  1. Make sure the webpage is open.
  2. In the Safari app on your Mac, choose Safari > Preferences, then click Security.
  3. Make sure the Enable JavaScript checkbox is selected.
  4. Click Websites.
  5. On the left, click Content Blockers.
  6. Make sure Off is chosen in the pop-up menu next to the website.
  7. On the left, click Pop-up Windows.
  8. Make sure Allow is chosen in the pop-up menu next to the website.

  3. Click Privacy and Security.
  4. Click Site settings.
  5. Click JavaScript.

The student will be part of the package simulation team. He/She will work on finite element modelling related to mechanical, thermal and thermomechanical loadings of IC packages. The student may conduct studies related to specific modelling methods as well as undertake tasks supporting new package under the guidance of experienced engineers.

In your new role you will:

  • Create or modify existing design CAD model using Autodesk Inventor or Spaceclaims
  • Build finite element model of problem to be studied using Ansys or LS-DYNA
  • Develop simple script in Python or Matlab to help in modelling and data processing if necessary
  • Analyze finite element result specific to a list of failure risks
  • Compile report and make presentation to the stakeholders

Internship learning outcomes:

  • Familiarize with the key components of IC package design and backend assembly process
  • Understand the key failure modes and the corresponding remedies in IC packages
  • Finite element modelling specific to IC packages
  • Effective report writing and presentation skills

You are best equipped for this task if you are/have:

  • Mechanical engineering graduate who is currently undertaking a postgraduate study; undergraduate with hand-on experience with finite element software may also be considered
  • Hand-on experience in finite element modelling in structural mechanics; familiarity with Ansys and LS-DYNA will be an advantage
  • Ability to develop simple script in Python, Matlab will be a bonus
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
