About The Role

As an Assistant Laboratory Officer / Laboratory Officer, you will contribute towards supporting the development of systems and solutions as part of a larger team, to meet the needs of different companies across the manufacturing and logistics ecosystem in Singapore. You will work with senior engineers and scientists at A*STAR on different projects for research and development of robotics and automation systems. If you are passionate about applied research and/or development of robotics and automation systems or solutions, this is the role for you.

Job Descriptions

  • Discuss with stakeholders to get clear understanding of their problem statements, requirements, expectations
  • Study new technologies and tools available in the market, evaluate and compare pros and cons, make recommendations; contribute to smart robotic and automation system development projects
  • Validate new concepts for systems or methods, by using virtual models, simulations and physical prototypes
  • Design and develop physical / software modules, programs, and other system components
  • Collecting data from experiments or trials, testing and validating the systems / solutions developed by other project team members
  • Assist senior colleagues in generating proposals for new projects
  • Interact with System Integrators (SI) and vendors to develop actual systems to meet project needs
  • Write and maintain technical documentation of the work done in projects, and make presentations

Job Requirements

  • ITE graduate (NITEC / Higher NITEC) or Polytechnic diploma in Engineering disciplines (e.g., Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, Computer Engineering)
  • Skills in modeling and simulations, experience in 3D mechanical design / CAD tools is highly desired
  • At least 2 years of experience
  • Basic knowledge of any programming or scripting languages (e.g., Python, C / C++ / Java, Javascript etc.)
  • Knowledge of PLC programming, robot programming etc. is a plus
  • Experience on developing robotics and automation systems / solutions is a plus
  • Able to work hands-on for industrial robotics and automation systems / solutions development projects with only limited guidance and without regular supervision.
