Organization Overview:

Metta Preschool Punggol (慈光幼儿园) has been providing specialized early intervention programs since its official opening on 31 July 2010. We receive cases from SG Enable through hospital referrals, with enrollment following an initial screening process. Our center focuses on early intervention for children aged two to six years old, from various races and religions, diagnosed or suspected with mild to moderate autism spectrum disorders (ASD), global developmental delay, and/or intellectual disabilities. Our goal is to maximize the developmental potential of these children.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Core Responsibilities

  • Oversee the daily operation of classes, ensuring smooth scheduling of teachers, especially during staff leave.
  • Maintain a child-friendly, safe, and supportive learning environment for children with special needs.
  • Address parents' inquiries and provide clear communication about the program and curriculum.
  • Manage the placement and admission of new students into appropriate classes.
  • Supervise teachers’ planning and implementation of the ECHO curriculum, ensuring alignment with educational goals.
  • Actively contribute to ECHO GCO meetings with the team and parents, fostering collaborative discussions.
  • Supervise the Early Intervention (EI) program and provide mentoring support to new teachers.
  • Step in to cover teaching duties when teachers are absent.
  • Organize social activities and outings for students to enhance their learning experiences.
  • Pursue professional development by attending relevant training programs.
  • Ensure achievement of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) set in the Early Intervention Service Model.
  • Lead curriculum planning and review sessions in collaboration with senior teachers and management.

2. Administrative Responsibilities

  • Review muster reports quarterly to ensure accurate records.
  • Oversee and verify teachers’ Individualized Education Plans (IEPs), GCO summary reports, monthly progress reports, and activity plans.
  • Prepare and submit required reports, and take minutes during management meetings when necessary.
  • Develop and implement on-the-job training for new staff members.
  • Conduct teacher appraisals in conjunction with the Manager to support staff development.

3. Compliance & Other Responsibilities

  • Ensure adherence to NCSS and MSF requirements, including SSR, PES, QA, SSNET, and EPES guidelines.
  • Ensure compliance with the Personal Data Protection Commission (PDPC) regulations.
  • Maintain ISO compliance within the framework of MWA’s standards.
  • Conduct orientation programs for newly enrolled parents and children, fostering strong relationships.
  • Build and maintain professional relationships with parents and guardians.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Manager or Management.

Requirements:

  • Experience:3-5 years of experience working with children with special needs and their parents, preferably in an early childhood or special needs setting.
  • Qualifications: Minimum Diploma in Early Childhood Care and Education or an equivalent qualification. Specialist Diploma in Early Childhood for children with Special Needs (SDESN) is preferred. Familiarity and training in the ECHO framework is an advantage.
  • Other Requirements: Passionate about working with children with autism and other developmental needs. Experience in a preschool or special needs education setting is advantageous.
