THE TEAM

Our Global Infrastructure team spans all our offices and covers our core infrastructure sectors of Oil & Gas, Power & Renewables, Transport and Social Infrastructure:

Oil & Gas

We have an experienced team of lawyers that advise on complex oil & gas projects and transactions globally. We help state-owned entities, independents, integrated energy companies, private equity companies, operators and financial institutions to execute strategic deals and make sense of law and regulation. Through the firm's international network and our ‘sector first' approach, we provide a full-service offering across the full oil and gas value chain, including:

  • upstream (including conventional and unconventional resources),
  • midstream (including pipelines, storage, petrochemicals, refining and gas processing)
  • downstream (including marketing and trading operations)
  • LNG projects

Power & Renewables

Our International Energy and Utilities Group remains one of the strongest in the sector, advising market leaders in power generation and renewable energies. We have been involved in:

  • Development of major thermal and renewable energy infrastructure projects
  • Acquisitions and disposals of energy assets
  • Specialist due diligence

Transport

We have exceptionally deep knowledge across all aspects of the Transport Sector. Social Infrastructure

Our dedicated team operates across private and public sectors and boasts an enviable track record in social infrastructure projects. We are valued by our clients because of our focus on high-quality input delivered in a responsive, efficient and approachable manner. We operate globally in health, education, living, leisure, renewal & development and central & local government including extensive experience liaising with central government departments in relation to funding and approvals required for public-private partnership (PPP) projects.

What To Expect In This Role

As well as our own trained lawyers, we have colleagues who have previously been in international, Magic Circle, US, City, national or boutique law firms, all of whom enjoy working with us.

  • You will have the opportunity to advise private and public sector clients across all our key sectors, as well as continuing to build on the expertise you will have developed to date in sectors you have a particular interest in.
  • Exposed to the full "life cycle" of a project, this will allow you to also hone your project management skills, assuming the lead role on matters as well as giving you the opportunity to draft and negotiate key project and finance contracts.
  • You will be expected to fully utilise the junior associates, trainee and the TST paralegal team on your matters, delegating tasks, providing training and feedback to assist with their development.
  • At Counsel level, you will be a key part of the leadership team's business development strategy, helping the team to enhance existing key relationships and developing strategies for key target clients and new sectors such as Hydrogen and PPP hand-back.
  • You will be expected to keep up to date with current market trends applying this practically and commercially to the transactions you are working on. In this respect, we will also encourage you to contribute thought leadership articles, present updates to clients and attend conferences.

YOUR AREAS OF KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERTISE

  • Have at least 8 years PQE + experience advising on matters across a number of the Global Infrastructure team's key sectors.
  • Experience in APAC countries.
  • Fluency in another Asian language would be beneficial.
  • Have enthusiasm, resilience, and ambition to find solutions to clients' legal challenges and requirements.
  • Be experienced in engaging with internal and external stakeholders of all levels.
  • Adopt a consultative and thorough approach to tasks.
  • Maintain efficient diary and task management across a range matters, ensuring the accuracy and levels of client service expected within a high performing team.
  • Be confident in drafting clear and legally effective documents, which reflect the client's instructions.
  • Remain calm and optimistic in time sensitive situations or under pressure.
  • Be enthusiastic about the development of your legal skill set and continuous learning.
  • Be inquisitive and want to understand our clients, their drivers and what matters to them, so that your advice has quality, imagination, and impact.
