What The Role Is

The Home Team Science and Technology Agency (HTX) is a statutory board under the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) which aims to pioneer innovation solutions and develop world class science and technology capabilities to transform and empower the Home Team in delivering safety and security for Singapore.

The HTxAI Products team is committed to empower our Home Team Department (HTD)'s flagship projects through the seamless integration of AI technologies. From identifying opportunities to delivery, launch, and continuous enhancement, HTxAI aims to push boundaries and setting new standards in homeland security.

As a Lead Engineer in HTxAI, you you will be part of a dynamic engineering team that designs and develops both the front-end and back-end components of AI-related solutions and applications for Home Team use cases. We are looking for aspiring candidates with a passion for problem solving and solution development to fulfil a role in AI Products, HTxAI as Software Engineer, with strong understanding of software development principles, and be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining web applications from the user interface to the server-side backend. He/she will be working with product managers, AI engineers, UI/UX, QA and DevOps engineers to build capabilities for our Home Team officers.

What You Will Be Working On

  • Develop full stack, reactive web apps that can be delivered either on desktop or on Cloud (AWS, MS Azure or GCP)
  • Work with UX/UI designer to develop responsive front end user interfaces using HTML, CSS, React.js or equivalent
  • Work with AI Engineers and Software engineers to develop server-side applications using Python, Node.js or equivalent framework
  • Work with QA engineers to write tests scripts for testing and ensure the quality of the developed applications
  • Troubleshooting and resolving issues as they arise during development or in production
  • Document and communicate the full-stack design to different technical stakeholders
  • Follow the best practices of DevOps (CI/CD, automated test), Software Design and Secure Coding principles
  • Keep abreast with the emerging technologies, tools and trend related to full-stack development
  • Work closely with engagement and product managers to develop demos for end users


What We Are Looking For

  • Postgraduate / Tertiary qualification in computer science, engineering, information systems or other quantitative/ analytical fields.
  • Experience in technology development with min 3 years’ experience in delivering large scale projects with multi-sites deployment and proven track records
  • Min 1-2 years of full stack web app development experience
  • Hands-on experience with front end languages such as HTML5, CSS and JavaScript and frameworks such as React or Angular
  • Hands-on experience with back-end technologies/framework such as Python, Node, Express and SQL/NoSQL Database
  • Experience/familiar with Cloud environment (MS Azure, AWS or GCP)
  • Hands-on experience with test automation and CI/CD workflow
  • Hands-on experience with Docker and Kubernetes is preferred
  • Experience with software development practices using Agile SCRUM or Kanban methodology
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts in a clear and effective manner
  • Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams
  • Self-motivated, team player, creative with excellent communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work independently.
  • Having domain knowledge in Homeland Security sector will be an added bonus
