The Director of Finance is a strategic thought-partner and a hands-on and participative leader responsible for the Financial, Procurement, Legal and Administrative business management. This position is responsible for the accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, tax, risk and compliance, investments, and audit functions of the organization, and is also responsible for overseeing the administrative, legal and procurement systems of the organization. This role also extends to obtaining and maintaining investor relations and ensuring compliance with partnership agreements.

A member of the Senior Leadership Team this position plays a critical role in strategic decision making, working in close partnership with the Managing Director to ensure highest standards of businesses performance, and highlighting the financial implications of commercial and strategic plans and decisions.

AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:

  • Oversees the provision of all financial information, including profit and loss, balance sheet and cash flow information, customer and brand performance and profitability, operating cost performance and working capital performance
  • Ensures that adequate financial and operational control procedures are in place and delivers compliance with all group and external requirements.
  • Ensures appropriate level of financial control, such as delegation of authorities, investment decisions, cost commitments, pricing control, purchase order compliance etc
  • Ensures that all local statutory obligations on reporting & filing are met and manages the end to end audit process
  • Oversees budgeting, forecasting, and business planning processes. Provides through financial assessment of business proposals and a robust and consistent commercial and financial service to the business
  • Reviews, changes and develops reporting, analysis and control processes to the extent this delivers or facilitates business improvement
  • Manages and develops the local team in order to ensure the above is achieved and to ensure that their individual job accountabilities are also met
  • Managers all local financial stakeholder relationships, eg audit, banking, company secretariat
  • Controls and delivers effective FX cover for foreign currency transactions
  • Identify opportunities for growth and expansion, including potential mergers and acquisitions.
  • Oversee and consolidate the financial operations of regional entities in Asia, including managing management fee and ensuring accurate financial reporting and analysis
  • Maintain a deep understanding of relevant legal matters to effectively protect and advance the organization’s interests.

QUALIFICATIONS & PREFERENCES

We are seeking a candidate with Bachelor’s degree in business (accountancy, economics) accompanied with a CPA/CA/MBA qualification, and over 15 years finance experience within Retail, Luxury, Consumer, Hospitality, F&B, or Lifestyle industries. Prior experience within Big 4 Audit firm is highly desired. Experience of successfully working in previous financial leadership roles covering:

  • Compliance with all local external reporting & filing requirements
  • Compliance with all local statutory operating requirements – eg tax, banking etc
  • Budgeting & Forecasting – including coordinating the end to end process
  • Customer and brand focused financial analysis
  • Developing and delivering financial reporting
  • Reporting, controlling & improving working capital
  • Establishing and monitoring operational & financial control and compliance
  • Working with other management to set and implement business strategy
  • Managing and developing other finance staff
