Brief Description:

  • To provide in a safe and ethical manner, the technical expertise and non-routine problem-solving capabilities needed to support the analytical and testing requirements of the RON, MON and CETANE engine.

Responsibilities:

  • To operate the three engines according to standard procedures following fit-for-use conditions.
  • To carry out daily checks on engine conditions, water coolant with K2Cr2O7 added, lube-oil level and refrigerator unit water temperature.
  • To ensure TSF close to the sample results are checked for each run and recorded.
  • To ensure thermometers, burettes are calibrated (with QA assistance) at regular intervals and records kept.
  • To carries out top overhaul when due and record activities when spare parts change and running hours.
  • To record parts changed and nature of problem after each repair by AmSpec staff or by vendor.
  • To check and maintain optimum spare parts for the engines, reference fuels, TEL and gases.
  • To carry out safety checks daily and routinely to ensure waste fuel and tested samples in the room are minimal, and pressure gauges are not leaking, the fire extinguisher is functional and has sufficient gas pressure at all times.
  • Perform all other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Diploma / Degree in Chemical / Mechanical Engineering / Chemistry / Applied Science.
  • At least 2-3 years’ experience working in a chemical, petroleum, and petrochemical laboratory.
  • Ability to understand ASTM standards and procedures.
  • Protocol, procedure, and safety oriented.
  • Ability to perform analytical tasks.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure, while directing numerous projects concurrently with different deadlines.
  • High tolerance for job pressure.
  • Able to work on flexible schedule as position will include evenings, weekend, and holidays, based on customers’ requirements.
  • Ability to verify and check results during and after office hours.
  • Position requires a dependable and reliable individual whose daily presence adds to the success of the department.
  • Able to work independently and a good team player.
  • Ability to work and communicate with persons of diverse personalities and backgrounds.
