What a College Intern - Hardware Process Automation does at HP:

  • Collaborate with Senior Engineers: Assist senior hardware engineers in the design, testing, and validation of notebook PC components and systems.
  • Prototyping Support: Participate in the prototyping of new notebook designs, helping to assemble and configure test units.
  • Troubleshooting: Diagnose hardware issues in notebook PCs, assisting with problem resolution and root cause analysis.
  • Data Collection & Reporting: Collect and analyze test data, generating reports and presenting findings to the engineering team.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with software, mechanical, and electrical engineering teams to ensure cohesive product development.
  • Market Research: Conduct research on emerging hardware technologies and trends to support innovation in notebook PC design.
  • Learning & Development: Engage in continuous learning opportunities, including training sessions and mentorship, to develop a deeper understanding of notebook PC hardware engineering.
  • Possible projects: Hardware innovation POC (Radio frequency/sensor/electrical)/AI performance benchmark/Digitization/Electrical measurement automation.

Individuals who do well in this role at HP, usually possess:

  • Preference for Electrical Engineering or Computer Science students.
  • Able to commit full-time for a 5-6 months internship, starting in January 2025.
  • Passion on following the latest technologies and be open mind to learn new things.
  • Team player and Growth mindset.
  • Communication— with supervisors/co-workers and provide POC of regular progress updates, problems encountered, demonstrating strong teamwork skills.
  • Be aggressive to learn and speak— eager to learn, bold to speak out his/her opinions in all discussions.
  • Problem-solving ability— familiarity with the basic structure of docking and DMC demonstrate the ability to identify and solve problems by coding/debugging skills with FW knowledge.
  • Impact on the organization— through an application or framework.
