Senior Data Scientist

The individual chosen for this position will join a team of IT professionals and scientific experts specializing in systems engineering, computational biology, chemistry, and clinical science. The ability to manage projects and collaborate within this diverse group, as well as to interact with business development and corporate staff, is vital. Proficient written and oral communication skills are necessary, along with the capacity to adapt to the often-fluid atmosphere of a biotech organization.

Duties And Qualifications

• A comprehensive grasp of high-performance computing concepts within public cloud environments, particularly AWS (mandatory), with additional knowledge of Azure or a preference for GCP. Relevant certifications are required.
• Hands-on experience in the design and implementation of cloud infrastructure, as well as integration with third-party biotechnology and healthcare solutions, such as Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) and electronic health record systems like EPIC, is essential.
• Proficient in managing strategic partnerships and vendor relationships in accordance with business objectives, utilizing tools such as JIRA software and collaborating with public cloud vendors and cloud solution partners.
• Capable of addressing end-user computing requirements, including desktops, laptops, and on-premises servers, while ensuring data security and backup measures are in place.
• Demonstrated experience in handling and processing large datasets, along with familiarity with workflow orchestration tools like NextFlow. Proficient in database design and management, including SQL, NoSQL, and Neo4j.
• Skilled in coding, version control, and containerization, with experience in bash scripting using languages such as Python and R, as well as tools like Git, GitHub, LINUX, and Docker.
• A strong understanding of data security and personal data protection, with the capability to design and implement compliant solutions within the biotechnology and pharmaceutical sectors, is highly desirable.
• Experience in preparing teams or organizations for compliance, including obtaining relevant certifications, is advantageous. A general understanding of Good Clinical Practice (GCP) standards is also desirable.
• Familiarity with project management systems and experience in the biotech, pharmaceutical, bioinformatics, or next-generation sequencing (NGS) fields is preferred.
