Job Purpose

As a Portfolio Manager, External Funds Team, you will be responsible for sourcing, conducting investment due diligence, performing ongoing monitoring, and reporting related responsibilities for our third-party mandates across public markets.

The position reports to the Head of External Funds Team. Applicant should possess strong analytical thinking, and, preferably, with prior experience in financial markets, i.e. direct investments, or funds allocation. Collaboration and good communication skills are essential due to the need to work with teams across different business functions.

The Job

  • Conduct quantitative and qualitative research on identified focus areas.
  • Conduct due diligence of existing and prospective investments through engagement with fund managers, reference calls and financial analysis.
  • Perform strategy level analysis, including periodic research, and highlighting investment opportunities to the team.
  • Takes accountability in considering business and regulatory compliance risks and takes appropriate steps to mitigate the risks.
  • Maintains awareness of industry trends on regulatory compliance, emerging threats and technologies in order to understand the risk and better safeguard the company.
  • Highlights any potential concerns /risks and proactively shares best risk management practices.

Our Requirements

  • 5-10 years of experience in manager research.
  • Experience in covering liquid alternative strategies (fund of hedge funds, hedge funds, alternate credit etc.) will be viewed favourably.
  • Multi-asset class experience is preferable, but not essential.
  • Proficiency in finance and investment fundamentals is required.
  • Knowledge of Morningstar or MercerInsight.
  • Analytical thinker who approaches problems logically and methodically
  • Multi-tasker who can track several priorities to produce high quality outcomes within deadlines.
  • Self-starter with initiative to lead and undertake new projects independently.
  • Good communicator who can collaborate productively with the External Funds Team and stakeholders around the organisation.
  • High level of integrity, takes accountability of work and good attitude over teamwork.
  • Takes initiative to improve current state of things and adaptable to embrace new changes.
