The Sales Director is responsible for implementing and localizing the global sales strategy across 11 countries in the Asia Pacific region, overseeing a business valued at €40 million, with a strong growth trajectory. This role involves setting long-term sales strategies, making strategic decisions, identifying key priorities, and executing them effectively across the region.
Distributor management is a significant component, where building trust, supporting distributors, and optimizing their performance is essential. The role also requires managing negotiations with key accounts (KA) and developing a robust route-to-market (RTM) strategy to maximize market reach both regionally and within individual countries. Balancing volume, price, mix, and profitability through strategic revenue management will be a critical focus.
Collaboration is key, especially with the marketing department, fostering a cohesive "one demand" mindset across teams. The Sales Director will also be responsible for managing the sales budget and ensuring distributor performance aligns with growth objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Implement and localize global sales strategies across the Asia Pacific region.
- Develop strategies to support growth for both business units and importers in the region.
- Make strategic decisions and set clear priorities to maximize business impact and investment efficiency.
- Collaborate with the Asia Pacific General Manager to develop and communicate long-term sales visions, engaging stakeholders throughout the process.
- Build strong relationships with distributors, providing support to enhance business growth and performance.
- Define and execute a strategic RTM approach to ensure optimal market coverage.
- Lead negotiations with key accounts (KA) and identify opportunities for growth using the 80:20 principle.
- Apply strategic revenue management principles to balance growth with profitability.
- Work closely with marketing and country managers to create a unified demand strategy.
- Develop and manage the sales budget while controlling spending and distributor performance.
- Regularly report to regional management and global headquarters.
Key Health & Safety Responsibilities:
- Ensure personal compliance with health and safety regulations, instructions, and systems.
- Provide necessary training and resources for safe operations within the team.
- Monitor and review health and safety performance, suggesting improvements and taking corrective action where necessary.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- University degree in business or a related field. A master's degree is a plus.
- Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience.
- Strong experience managing importers and distributors.
- Key Account Management (KAM) expertise.
- Proven experience in optimizing route-to-market (RTM) strategies.
- Experience in regional roles with responsibility for deploying strategies across multiple markets.
- Demonstrated leadership skills, including motivating, training, and developing teams.
- Strong interpersonal and collaboration abilities, fostering a team-oriented work environment.
- Ability to influence without direct authority and enhance distributor performance.
- Strategic agility and business acumen.
- Strong focus on results, action-oriented with priority-setting and analytical skills.
- Positive, hands-on attitude, comfortable in fast-paced and dynamic environments.
- Willingness to travel extensively within and outside the region.
