EDUCATION/ PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATION (S)

  • Degree / Diploma in Marine and Offshore / Naval Architectural / Mechanical / Electrical Engineering, Certificate of Competency (Marine Engineer Officer) Class 1 (Motorship), or its equivalent.

WORKING EXPERIENCE/ KNOWLEDGE

  • Preferred with Shipyard Operations Knowledge & Microsoft office skills (especially Excel & MS project) & Primavera, with at least 2 to 4 years of relevant experience (Shipyard / Offshore industry / Oil refineries).

JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Processes

  • Study project requirements defined in the specifications & prepare project construction schedule (resource-loaded) in Primavera, MS Project or any other planning software selected for the project. This includes proper work logic sequencing for Engineering, Procurement, Construction and Commissioning work packages (Level 1 to Level 4).
  • To develop project schedule based on clearly defined scope of works and submit to owner/client with proper submission template for review and comment within time frame set forth in the contract.
  • To prepare a project execution plan, in consultation with Project Manager and Project Control Manager, in relation to the schedule drafted for the above.
  • To monitor and update weekly and monthly project progress report and tracking the milestone list, work discipline S-curves and manpower histograms.
  • To prepare and monitor project schedule and manpower for additional scope of works and present its impact on baseline activities and resource allocation.
  • To prepare and monitor the run down curve for major activities/trades.
  • To analyze the project plan for what has happened, current situation and what needs to be done to close up the progress variance, as well as identifying potential delay due to current and expected project issues.
  • To prepare look-ahead activities and highlight to Project Manager, Project Control Manager and Project Cost Controller for resource management and schedule impacts.
  • To identify the critical path activities, conduct progress analysis and highlight impact and optimization outcomes to Project Manager, Project Control Manager and Project Expeditor.
  • To update the engineering status and reflect in the engineering planned progress schedule.
  • To monitor and highlight the potential delay activities and/or delayed activities to Project Manager, Project Control Manager, Production Section Managers and Production Foremen/Engineers.
  • To monitor and report the actual manpower deployment against planned manpower.
  • To consolidate project photos on regular basis to have pictorial representation of progress and critical activities, e.g. heavy lifting.
  • Prepare project monthly presentation slides to Senior Management, Project Update Presentation for Client VIP visits and project close-out presentation.
  • To attend Project Progress Meetings and PCM weekly meetings.
  • Any other assigned duties and responsibilities.

Execution Excellence

  • Develop project schedule, in consultation with Project Manager, Project Control Manager and Project Cost Controller, to achieve payment milestones and maintain positive cash flow during the project execution phase.
  • Foresee and highlight risks that might have impact on critical path.
  • Develop sufficient control measures with Project Manager and Project Control Manager to prevent impact on critical path delivery.
  • Prompt in reporting problems and discuss matters sensibly with fellow colleagues and immediate superiors so as to prioritize work according to their importance and urgency.
  • Work closely with Project Manager, Project Control Manager and Project Expeditor to ensure project progress meets baseline plan.

People

  • Support company's succession grooming and planning initiatives.
  • Report to Project Manager/Manager (PCM) and assist the Project Control Manager in developing the PCM team.
  • Contribute towards an open learning and people development culture.
  • Share with and mentor juniors and subordinates on lessons learnt from past events and incidents.
