DesignZ is the next generation design centre established in SUTD to further reinforce Design as a core offering of SUTD through 4 main areas: Research, Innovation, Services & Education (RISE). The main objective is to establish an integrated partnership with the public and private sectors by offering advocacy and leadership in Design through RISE, focusing on sustainability & circularity approaches to solve challenges and bring about transformations of recognizable value to the industry and society at large.

The Design Innovation Office is a group of world-leading interdisciplinary designers, technical professionals, and researchers who seek to drive strategic human-centric innovation programs and organisational transformations through pedagogical/education innovation, co-creation, design guidance, incubation and training projects becoming a catalyst at the center of engineering, architecture, science, psychology, and business.​

The Deputy Manager/ Manager will support the development and growth of DesignZ and Design Innovation Office. The successful candidate will work closely with SUTD faculty and researchers in driving the education and research agenda for the sector. The candidate is also expected to work with companies, government agencies, and SUTD faculty in identifying opportunities for collaboration and support the collaboration process.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Perform marketing and outreach to industry and agencies
  • Identify, seed, develop and promote project funding and research collaboration opportunities
  • Identify potential clients and industries that align with the team's expertise and capabilities.
  • Build networks with partners and manage key company and agency accounts
  • Work closely with SUTD faculty and researchers on all matters pertaining to industry collaboration projects, including but not limited to agreement and contract negotiations
  • Understand client's business objectives and translate them into design challenges and opportunities for the team.
  • Develop and deliver proposals that outline the team's value proposition and proposed solutions.to potential clients.
  • Manage and monitor projects and budget
  • Provide administrative and secretariat support

Requirements:

  • Bachelor or Master’s degree
  • Demonstrate keen interest in STEM and design research developments
  • Demonstrate basic understanding of research agreements and contracts
  • Past experience in project management and budgeting would be an advantage
  • Business development and account management skills
  • Excellent writing and presentation skills
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Able to work independently and in teams
