Key Duties and Responsibilities

As the Director, Data Centre Operations (DCO), Singapore, you will be reporting to the Country Head, Singapore with dotted line reporting to the Head, Global Data Centre Operations. You lead and manage a team to provide technical leadership and oversight of our data centre operations in Singapore. Take ownership of the performance and deliverables of the STT GDC Singapore DC Operations and ensure 100% delivery of all customer SLAs and compliance with the Company’s operational standards and policies & procedures.

Operations Excellence:

  • Work closely with Head, Global Data Centre Operations to collaborate on business improvement processes, alignment initiatives and operational excellence
  • Work closely with Senior Manager, EHS, DC Operations, Singapore to implement EHS policies & procedures, training and awareness.
  • Maintain good governance and strict adherence to the safety, security, availability & performance process in accordance with safety requirements, procedures, laws and regulations.
  • Promote a culture of zero-downtime, 100% SLA adherence and unrelenting customer focus across all data centres.
  • Participate actively and lead by example in group wide initiatives and programs such as sustainability program, safety program, cyber-security program.
  • Responsible for risk management and mitigation as well as leading the response to contingency situations
  • Participate in the Group’s efforts for digital transformation of its operational systems and procedures. Drive PUE improvements in existing data centres
  • Plan and review operational budgets per asset
  • Plan and execute the rollout of operational teams, systems and vendors in new data centres. Proactively participate and influence the handover from construction to operational phase of new assets.
  • Ensure excellence in the selection and training of best people, process, systems.

Customer / Stakeholder Management:

  • Build and maintain excellent relationships with our key customers and external stakeholders including landlords, critical facility management partners, equipment vendors.
  • Responsible for leading QBRs and other operational reviews and audits with our customers
  • Lead the customer solutioning functions for incoming customer configuration (e.g. white space fitouts, deployment planning, cross-connects)
  • Contribute to strategic communication with global customers on technical operational matters.
  • Collaborate with cross functional teams from Technology, Projects & Engineering, Group DC Operations, Group EHS, Regional Asset Management & Investments, Finance and Sales, or other relevant departments as required.

Team Management:

  • Manage and motivate a team of employees and direct reports to support delivery of the strategic and regional goals in line with company goals and priorities.
  • Lead by example and inspire a culture of operational excellence through strategic and hands on leadership.

Any other duties or project as assigned by the Management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Engineering/Science/IT or related disciplines
  • At least 8 - 15 years of relevant work experience in leading a sizable operational team
  • Good knowledge in data centre operational excellence, engineering operations in service and operational management of critical MEP infrastructure, ITIL or similar frameworks, maintenance management, engineering and commissioning within data centres.
  • In depth understanding of technical matters, mechanical and electrical systems, controls and monitoring aspects of a mission critical 24/7 data centre.
  • Practical experience delivering business continuity, risk management, incident management, problem management and change management & control in a mission critical 24/7 environment.
  • Experience in people management, operating expense management, tender/ procurement/ vendor management
  • Ability to be hands-on in leading the region teams and the situation room during emergencies.
  • Manage incident and problem resolution in the stakeholder communications.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and spoken).
