What you will be working on

As a Cloud Architect, you will assist in the design, implementation and management of URA cloud environment (Current provider is Microsoft Azure and in future will include Amazon Web Services) to support the cloud-based systems. You will also provide support and technical governance, expertise related to cloud architectures, deployment, and operations. Your primary roles include the following:

New Cloud Projects

• Gather and translate project-specific requirements and put in place cloud solutions to satisfy those requirements as well as considering the project’s resource use and scalability requirements.

• Identify and recommend the best cloud end-to-end architecture, including networking, provisioning, and management that is aligned with URA’s overall cloud design architecture. Ensure the apps are designed and optimized for high availability, resiliency and disaster recovery.

• Bring the new apps into the cloud environment to completion.

Cloud Operations

• Examine cloud apps, hardware, and software on a regular basis.

• Collaborate with IT security to ensure cloud security.

• Assist with infrastructure migration strategies and disaster recover testing, such as mass application transfers to the cloud, resiliency testing.

• Perform activities such as deployment, maintenance, monitoring, and management inside the cloud framework that has been created.

• Keep track of how much cloud space is being used and ensuring that the system is running smoothly.

• Implement and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) scripts using Terraform to cater for cloud resources changes and new requirements.

What we are looking for

You are structured, systematic and skilled in synthesizing trends and insights and can put forth creative mitigation plans and solutions to application availability incidents in a collaborative environment. Trained in Computer Science or related disciplines, you are passionate and also possess:

• Minimum 2-3 years working experience in architecting, designing, developing and implementing cloud solutions on Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Service (AWS) or Google Cloud Platform (GCP)

• Technical experience in at least two of the areas:

o Hands on experience with Azure/AWS/GCP such also setting up and supporting Azure application gateway, Web Application Firewall, Azure Data Factory, cloud storage services, IIS reverse proxy servers and load balancers

o Hands on experience in building IaC using Terraform

o Hands on experience in configuring cloud components with adequate monitoring and logging to prevent outages.

o Hands on experience with providing support for cloud infrastructure Audit and security compliance activities.

o Cloud Security experience in implementing or working with essential cloud security tools such as Checkpoint, Security Hub, GuardDuty, AWS Detective

• Experience in multi-cloud environment would be considered positively

• Good presentation and writing skills

• Organized, systematic and skilled in synthesizing trends and insights and a team player
