Job Description

KPMG Singapore’s Office of General Counsel is looking to hire a talented, enthusiastic, motivated and thoughtful lawyer to advise KPMG’s various business functions in commercial and transaction matters. This is an opportunity to join a strong and well-established legal team. The Legal Counsel will be responsible for providing full legal support to the business and corporate functions.

Our Office of General Counsel disseminates timely and relevant information on developments in legislation and regulations, and executes initiatives to manage our risk in a challenging environment.

The Job Scope Entails

  • Delivering high standard legal guidance from commercial perspective including involvement with many internal functions to mitigate and prevent legal risks.
  • Preparing and drafting of all legal contracts and agreements, including alliance agreements, engagement contracts, sponsorship agreements, reseller agreements, NDAs, etc.
  • Reviewing contractual documents to ensure adherence to company practice and policies as well as mitigate potential risks involved with specific contractual terms.
  • Providing legal and regulatory advice and support on broad range of matters to various business units and service lines, including data privacy, protection of KPMG proprietary and intellectual property and information technology contracts etc.
  • Liaising, coordinating and collaborating with both front and back office functions and external counsels.
  • Developing tools and establish processes to empower our people, including taking initiatives for knowledge management to facilitate easy access, sharing, and dissemination of information within the team and with various business functions.
  • Create and deliver internal trainings on commercial and legal processes and concepts.

We Are Looking For Team Players With

  • Degree in law (either in Singapore or other common law jurisdiction is preferred)
  • 5-8 years of relevant legal experience in a law firm or in-house
  • Ability to manage a varied workload with minimal direction
  • Ability to work independently while effectively supporting and collaborating with colleagues, peers and subordinates
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Legal experience and knowledge in information technology contracts and data protection matters will be an advantage
  • Positive attitude to his/her work that takes ownership of tasks and is able to work independently as well.
