Nlyte Administrator/Specialist (S2)

Responsible for ensuring the Nlyte system is upto date at all times, coordiante the workflow with the required teams, and managing hte monthly reporting

Position Overview and Objectives:

  • Coordinates the Proximity Service assignments for data centres, delivering standardised services including physical access, remote hands, hardware inventory management, installation and cabling, and data centre operations site management.
  • Co-ordinates delivery and operation of IT infrastructure (hardware and cabling) to documented strategy and standards, service catalogue, industry specifications, schedule, quality, and customer expectations.
  • Monitor physical conditions of servers and other IT infrastructure.
  • Managing network cables, routers, and other network related equipment.
  • Monitor the HVAC, power, and other systems within the DC facility.
  • Communicate with team for all service request information.
  • Quickly determine if issues require communication for SME support.
  • reponsible for monthly reporting, capacity, utilisiation, forecasting etc.
  • Provide extensive troubleshooting support, if needed.
  • Update hardware inventory and cable ports availability in DCIM system.
  • Perform hardware installations (rack/stack) and cable installations (routing, terminating, structured cabling), including troubleshooting and testing. Perform hardware decommission and cable removal.
  • Perform remote hands support (e.g., power cycles, physical environment, and cabling inspections, swap out failed components, hardware upgrades, testing of copper and fibre cables, handling storage media, and enter troubleshooting commands).
  • Prepare and coordinate incoming/outgoing shipments. Compare packing lists with purchase details to ensure correct make, model, and quantities are received and receipted.
  • Support Service Management and related processes (e.g., Service Request, Incident, Change) by creating, updating, and closing associated tickets. Oversee and support Physical access processes to maintain secure Data Centre facilities.
  • Oversee, track, maintain, order adequate sparing, cabinets, and consumable levels.
  • Perform physical audits and ensure the Service Management database is updated and accurate.
  • Handle tape backup media and prepare for offsite storage if applicable.
  • Collaborate and maintain business relationships to meet and exceed client expectations with respect to business as usual and project activities.
  • Train and provide oversight to improve service levels.
  • Coordinate projects – Data Centre Solution tools, space planning, power requirements, cabling requirements. Work with Client/Vendor, order cables and related supplies.
  • Allocate job tasks to staff. May maintain staff’s shift scheduling and approve timecards.
  • Act as a point of escalation.

Qualifications:

  • 1-3 years Data Centre Technician L2 experience.
  • Experience in managing Nlyte and keep up to date in all data entry ensuring all information capture are up to date.
  • Coordinates delivery and operation of IT infrastructure (hardware and cabling) to documented strategy and standards, service catalogue, industry specifications (i.e., ISO9001 and ISO27001), schedule, quality, and customer expectations.
  • Participates in the management of 24x7 Proximity Services operations for assigned data centres, delivering standardized services including physical access, remote hands, hardware inventory management, installation and cabling, and data centre operations site management.
  • Develops and nurtures strong relationships with other technology organizations and identifies opportunities to provide additional service capabilities.
  • Participates in data centre provisioning forums and reviews industry standards for whitespace planning to improve time to market, quality, consistency, and accuracy across assigned data centres.
  • Fosters a culture of customer-focused behaviours and continuous operational improvement.
  • Participates in the delivery of data centre optimization and closure programs.
  • Perform additional job duties as required.

Knowledge and Experience:

  • 1-3 years Data Centre Engineer experience at L2.
  • Knowledge of Nlyte DCIM
  • Experience with Server/Networking hardware.
  • Strong knowledge of PC and Server Hardware as well as networking.
  • Strong understanding of Data Centre Power schemes.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
