Job Description:
We’re looking for teachers who are creative, playful, supportive, and passionate about helping students achieve their educational goals. You will be working within our centres, delivering our unique pedagogy and instilling the joy of learning Chinese.

I Can Read Chinese Teacher Requirements:

  • Degree-level qualifications, preferably in Teaching/Education/Early Childhood/Chinese Language/Chinese Literature or Linguistics.
  • Diploma-level qualifications must be in a relevant field such as Teaching/Education/Early Childhood Studies/Chinese Language/Chinese Literature or Linguistics.
  • Proficient in Mandarin with strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Preferably at least two years of related teaching experience, or similar.
  • A passion for teaching young children.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to work well with co-teachers and Learning Centre Management.
  • The ability to operate with a high level of integrity and professionalism.
  • Willing to teach on weekends and weekday evenings.

I Can Read Chinese Teacher Responsibilities:

  • Working with children between the ages of 2.5 to 12 years old.
  • Teaching Chinese language skills, including speaking, reading, and writing.
  • Implementing the I Can Read Chinese curriculum to enhance students’ literacy and comprehension skills.
  • Teaching Academy students a variety of techniques for structured composition, critical thinking, and language development.
  • Travelling between centres to conduct Academy classes, including online lessons.
  • Lesson preparation and marking, including the creation of relevant teaching resources and participation in teacher and curriculum meetings on a weekly basis.
  • Maintaining open communication with parents through informal, formal, and scheduled parent-teacher meetings, providing regular updates on students’ performance and progress.
  • Conducting ad hoc replacement lessons and one-to-one sessions.
  • Teaching I Can Read affiliated Chinese language programmes.
  • Helping children develop social skills and positive classroom behaviour.
  • Creating a conducive learning environment for students and safeguarding their well-being at all times.
  • Assisting the assessment team in organising and conducting open house events.
  • Performing any other ad-hoc duties as required.
