Position Summary
The BD Manager is responsible for finding long-term business opportunities mainly within the Ethane and LNG segments. The BD Manager will evaluate short-term chartering opportunities as well as develop projects in line with the commercial strategy and key financial targets. The BD Manager will develop and maintain relationships with stakeholders and potential customers in the market, to lead to a broader network and consequently to business opportunities. The role involves engaging in strategy, negotiations, concluding and managing partnerships and contracts, investment evaluations, as well as delivering analyses and reports of markets, trades and competitors and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.

Seapeak is one of the world’s largest independent owner-operators, with ownership interests in over 90 LNG, LPG, Ethane and multigas carriers, and an LNG regasification terminal. With investment from our sponsor, leading alternative investment firm, Stonepeak, there has been a positive repositioning for our company with focus on growth-based commercial diversification. Delivering on our goals to expand our fleet and diversify our portfolio, Seapeak has most recently acquired Evergas for $700 million, which primarily focuses its operations on the shipment of ethane – an even greener global fuel source.

Position Summary

Major Responsibilities
- Treat safety as a priority
- Develop and maintain a strong and active network that generates identification and recommendation of opportunities related to NGL and LNG
- Originate commercial opportunities in line with strategic priorities focused on new growth (M&A, new investments, etc).
- Support chartering of existing assets (LNG & NGL), identifying and pursuing short and medium term business opportunities
- Identify, investigate, and develop strategies for introducing Seapeak to new customers in the NGL segment and making recommendations to the Business Development VP
- Continually monitor and map the competition and establish benchmarks
- Work closely with the VP and the rest of the BD team (particularly the Director, BD (Pacific) to develop and implement shipping services and offerings. Ensure that department and management is kept updated on general market dynamics and newbuilding activities.
- Project management prequalification, project, tender and offer processes, etc ensuring NGL tenders and projects are completed to the satisfaction of both internal and external customers, with the appropriate attention to safety, quality, cost, returns, profitability, performance and schedule
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver pre-qualifications, tenders and projects as well as improve industry expertise
- Coordinate special projects as required, including due diligence reviews on customers and partners to assess business risk.
- Draft, revise and negotiate term sheets, Charter Parties and NDAs for new and existing businesses
- Produce reports and presentations for internal and external stakeholders
- Investigate broad information sources to gain insights on future market developments
- Monitor market mechanisms and asses
- Develop strategies for market participation and capturing market share
- Assess whether the current strategy being followed is still valid or needs to be revised
- Instinctive commercial skills, strategic mind-set and self-starter
- Relevant experience in the business segment
- Have strong business acumen and analytical understanding
- Find it motivating to generate new insights and translate them into business opportunities
- Track record of origination and negotiating commercial contracts
- Decision making, strategic management capabilities. Influencing skills to build respect and trust
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to adapt to different cultural nuances with ease
- Excellent English skills both verbal and written
- Detail-oriented, structured, and able to work under pressure in a fast-moving international environment
- Ability to work as part of a team and be a strong team player
- Be proactive, creative, and able to work independently
- A degree in relevant areas such as Business, Economics or Shipping would be beneficial
- Willingness to travel as and when required
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
