The Research Assistant will support LanTERN (Language Evolution through Trees, Entropies, Reconstruction, and Networks), a project investigating the linguistic and cultural histories of East and Southeast Asia. Responsibilities include conducting independent research, participating in project events, contributing to academic discussions and dissemination, supporting data curation, tracking project milestones, and assisting with report preparation. The role offers an excellent opportunity to engage in both traditional and computational linguistic research as part of a collaborative and interdisciplinary team.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in linguistics or a relevant field
  • Strong interest in linguistics research
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) to liaise with internal and external stakeholders professionally
  • Proficiency in data processing tools (e.g., Google Sheets, Excel) and office applications
  • Ability to work independently while also collaborating within a team-oriented environment
  • Basic knowledge of data management (e.g., organising and storing research materials securely) is an advantage
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
