Mainframe Infrastructure Engineer (AIX (AO))
Scope of Work
- Setup and Sunset of AIX- and VIO servers according to existing, defined standards, and adherence to Service Activation and Life Cycle processes
- Planning and execution of system changes (OS software changes [patches, maintenance level, releases] as well as support HW- and Virtualization changes within the framework of the prescribed change management processes
- Backup and recovery of system data (AIX,VIO, HMC)
- Monitoring of performance and capacity utilization and preparation of information or recommendations for the Service Management (SM) or the customer
- Monitoring and management of the server-related security guidelines required (e.g., APAR process) AIX system monitoring using provided tools
- Handling and resolving incident, problems and requests Handling and resolving SAN storage BAU problems request execution of AIX user administration
- Creation and updating of documentation necessary for the operation (eg. operation instructions , standby service documents, etc.)
- Supporting Service Management (e.g., supplying information for monthly reports) Guaranteeing inventory data quality (change/problem management, inventory) Participation in dispatching and stand-by duties

• Implementing Backup/Restoration Strategy for 24x7 operation support
• Applying patches/upgrades to maintain security level
• Assist in implementation of Data center consolidation
• Perform H/W & performance monitoring and implement recommendations
• Day-to-Day reporting analysis tasks
• Vendor co-ordination & follow-up
• Adhering to SLA
• Understanding of Multi-geo support environment
• Helping team members in case of Issues/Technical Problems
• Troubleshooting technical issues
Mandatory Skills
• Installing, configuring and maintaining IBM AIX servers (HMC/VIO/AIX)
• WPAR creation and management
• Knowledge of HACMP & VCS clusters
• Configuration of NAS/SAN solutions
• Changing kernel parameters
• Understanding of Unix Security baseline
• NFS server export and mounting
• SAN allocation and setup.
• Multipath configuration. EMC PowerPath and Netapp.
• Identify system performance bottleneck and fine tune the system
• Account and Printer administration
• Network configuration, Multipathing, trunking and troubleshooting
• Logical Volume Management
• Physical and virtual (LPAR) hardware configuration of AIX
• Experience with installation of Applications & tools.
• Scripting with KSH, BASH and Perl
• Troubleshooting Hardware, Operating system and Network related issue
• Excellent understanding of system configuration, system build, disk management, and LVM.
• Clustering technologies.
