The job holder is responsible for ensuring personalized and cost-effective care is provided by nursing staff to residents in accordance to established policies and procedures, standards of nursing care and practices. Responsible for the effective and efficient running of the ward/department assigned.

Primary Responsibilities and Duties (80%)

  • Oversee the team of RN/EN, NA/HA under his/her charge
  • Responsible for compliance of all nursing standards as stipulated by MOH and SNB
  • Lead quality assurance activities to monitor and evaluate the quality and appropriateness of nursing care of the ward
  • Ensure quality audits are planned, conducted periodically and follow up with corrective improvements
  • Ensure written policies and SOP is available and up to date to guide nursing practices
  • Provide direct care to residents to ensure compliance to standards
  • Ensure smooth transition of residents from acute to chronic care and back to community
  • Ensure appropriate skill mix and adequate manpower resourcing for all shifts and types of services for area under his/her purview
  • Direct and facilitates staff development, skills and competency upgrading through in-house training, approved online learning or formal education opportunities
  • Guide orientation/ induction programmes and preceptorship for all new staff
  • Prepare roster and daily staff assignment for the ward/dept
  • Support the SNM in nursing home management and deputizes her in her absence
  • Work with Allied Health on preventive and rehabilitative programs for the residents

Secondary Responsibilities and duties (20%)

  • Promote evidence-based practices or nursing care delivery
  • Demonstrate awareness of current nursing and health care practices
  • Monitor and analyze trends and changing needs of residents in institutional settings
  • To carry out any other duties as assigned by the supervisor

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing and/or Specialist Diploma in Gerontology and/or Advanced Diploma in any discipline is preferred
  • Possess valid registration with Singapore Nursing Board
  • Minimum 5 years’ relevant working experience Nurse Manager
  • Proficient in basic computer skills
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
