Senior System Engineer (2 Year Contract)
Job Summary
You will be working with our client who are well renowned in the public and financial sector. You will be responsble in leading and managing the Zabbix-based monitoring infrastructure. The ideal candidate
will combine strong technical expertise in systems monitoring with excellent problem-solving abilities and communication skills. This position plays a crucial role in ensuring the reliability and performance of the IT infrastructure through effective monitoring and preventive measures.
Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain Zabbix 7.0 monitoring infrastructure
- Configure, optimise and oversee the monitoring for diverse environments including Windows, Unix/Linux systems, databases, and middleware
- Develop and maintain monitoring templates, triggers, and alerts
- Create custom scripts and integrations for enhanced monitoring capabilities
- Manage monitoring dashboards and reporting systems
- Troubleshoot monitoring issues and implement preventive measures
- Provide technical guidance on monitoring best practices
- Maintain monitoring documentation and standard operating procedures
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field
- 8+ years of experience in IT systems administration
- Minimum 3 years of experience with Zabbix 6.0 and above, including installation, configuration, and maintenance
- Strong knowledge of Windows and Unix/Linux operating systems
- Proficiency in monitoring databases (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle)
- Experience with middleware monitoring (e.g., Apache, Nginx, WebLogic)
- Scripting skills in multiple languages (e.g., Python, Bash, PowerShell)
- Understanding of network protocols and services
- Experience with API integration and custom monitoring solutions
- Experience with containerisation and cloud monitoring is an added advantage
- Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities
- Experience with performance tuning and capacity planning
- Knowledge of IT service management principles
- Excellent communication and documentation skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git)
