RESPONSIBILITIES
The SMU Urban Institute, launched in early 2024, is a university-level research institute dedicated to advancing an interdisciplinary research agenda. Leveraging SMU's strategic position as a dynamic management university in Singapore's city centre, the Institute aims to make a meaningful impact through the study of Asian cities. We are currently seeking individuals with specific skillsets to support the various ongoing research projects at the Institute.
Work under supervision of PI (Principal Investigator) to create and operate a large-scale taxi/ride-hailing simulator in Singapore setting. The major responsibilities are:
- Refit an existing large-scale taxi/ride-hailing simulator using latest street topology.
- Process large datasets from LTA and Gojek to prepare for simulation calibration.
- Design an automated process to calibrate the simulation model, so that it is consistent with real-world data.
- Bachelors/Masters degree in Computer Science or a related computing focused discipline is required.
- Previous research experience is highly preferred.
- Excellent coding ability and experience in Python or Java is essential.
- Coursework in data structures and algorithms, probability and statistics.
- Experience with geospatial data analytics is a big plus.
- The candidate should provide a sample of significant project on github/bitbucket.
