Senior Mechanical Engineer
Overview
NEU Battery Materials aims to be the largest, cleanest, and most neutral source of recycled lithium globally, the firm developed the world’s first patented electrochemical redox recycling method that only uses electricity and water. This revolutionary approach is paving the way for a more sustainable future in LFP battery recycling.
We are expanding our current scale of operations and are seeking a Mechanical Engineer. Working closely with the R&D team, this new teammate will ensure mechanical systems, and equipment integrate smoothly into process flow, and mechanical components maintain reliability and performance as production scales from pilot to full-scale.
Responsibilities
- Lead the installation, commissioning, and maintenance of new machinery, and liaise with contractors, suppliers, and manufacturers to ensure seamless integration into NEU's recycling line.
- Design, implement, and optimize equipment modifications to enhance the performance, reliability, and safety of NEU's electrolyzer lithium-ion battery recycling system.
- Lead the materialization of conceptual designs from the prototyping stage to fabricated end products or functional process line solutions
- Conduct 3D modeling and flow simulation analysis for ideation, design, implementation, and troubleshooting of mechanical solutions.
- Ensure structural components of line equipment withstand operational stresses such as temperature, pressure, and chemical exposure
- Investigate potential solutions to optimize the NEU’s current recycling system and address technical challenges.
- Perform testing and analysis on improved mechanical designs and solutions to assess operational feasibility and maximize system efficiency.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or a related field
- 5+ years of industrial experience in mechanical design, equipment optimization, or manufacturing processes, preferably in recycling, chemical processing, or advanced manufacturing.
- Strong knowledge of 3D modeling (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar) and flow simulation analysis (Ansys or similar), for mechanical system optimization.
- Self-driven, independent, and resourceful
- Effective team player with good communication and presentation skills
- Possess good analytical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication in English
- Good to have knowledge in any of these areas; flow battery, redox flow processes, electrochemical processes, fuel cell
