Purpose and Scope
This position will be responsible for handling all mechanical engineering planning and design matters in land infrastructure and industrial asset development projects in the Southeast Asian Region.
Key Roles and Responsibilities
- Work along with Project Manager or Project Leader to provide sustainability-oriented planning and design concept/ideas in mechanical systems for land infrastructure and industrial asset developments.
- Conduct pre-qualification of contractors and consultants, prepare tender documents related to the M&E systems, and evaluate technical proposals at tender.
- Manage and review consultants’ designs, drawings and specifications for M&E systems after award of contract so as to achieve optimal design and cost.
- Conduct preliminary technical feasibility study on the M&E systems including cost estimates for new industrial parks or industrial assets such as warehouses and factories.
- Review and improve design & product specifications for MEP systems to enable their cost effectiveness.
- Support Project Manager/ Project Lead in technical due diligence for M&A of existing industrial assets, e.g. warehouses or factories, in collaboration with local technical team and external consultants.
- Deal with stakeholders including project owner, consultants, and contractors to resolve mechanical & electrical system issues that arise during planning and construction stage.
- Conduct research to keep abreast of new technology for mechanical engineering design or products that are applicable to or relevant to the projects being pursued as part of continuous professional development and knowledge sharing culture in Sembcorp.
- Support Project Manager in review/ updating of standard operating procedures/ workflow for project development.
Qualification, Skills, and Experience
- At least 5 - 8 years of relevant experiences in planning and design of M&E systems for building projects.
- Possess a recognized Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Possess sound knowledge in M&E systems for industrial assets throughout the project development cycle as well as in operation.
- Familiar with the prevailing technical design practice, Building and Fire Safety Regulations and Green Building & Sustainability Design.
- Familiar with codes of practice in Vietnam and Indonesia an added advantage.
- Proficient in MS Office Applications (Word, PowerPoint and Excel), AutoCAD.
- Possess good interpersonal and problem-solving skills, good collaborative spirit, and be able to handle tasks independently in a fast-paced environment.
- Previous industrial assets background and sustainable solutions an added advantage.
- Willing to travel when business need arises.
