Work at the laboratory focuses on understanding the pathogenic mechanisms underlying adult-onset neurodegenerative diseases by constructing in vitro and in vivo models followed by a multidisciplinary approach combining genomic quantitative analysis, molecular and cellular studies with the goal of understanding disease pathogenic mechanisms (neuronal vulnerability and non-cell-autonomous toxicity) and harnessing anti-aging potential to understand and combat adult-onset neurodegenerative diseases. The lab is located in S9 Building at NUS. There is close integration among the core laboratories at this University-supported strategic initiative in neurobiology and aging research. In addition, we maintain collaborative efforts with groups in Singapore, including but not limited to DUKE-NUS, NNI, TLL, NTU and Institute of Molecular and Cell Biology (IMCB), and internationally.Qualifications
- PhD degree in science
- Highly motivated and passionate for research
- Experience in routine cell biology, biochemistry and molecular biology techniques
- Expertise in one of the following areas is preferred (but not required): mouse or stem cell models, electrophysiology, glial biology, RNA biology, lipid biology, bioinformatics, live imaging microscopy, chemogenetics or optogenetics
