Mandai Nature is a successful Singapore-based non-profit conservation organisation jointly set up by Temasek and Mandai Wildlife Group (which manages zoological parks including Singapore Zoo, Night Safari, River Wonders, Bird Paradise and Rainforest Wild Asia). Job Duties And Responsibilities
- Lead the development and oversight of Mandai Nature’s strategy and efforts on ecosystem and landscape conservation.
- Identify priority landscapes for focus on ecosystems linked to wildlife priorities and opportunity to engage with communities.
- Enable project and research links between nature and climate change, developing and delivering nature-based solutions (NBS) for climate.
- Foster partnerships with local partners to design and implement projects on the ground.
- Help secure funds for the projects to be implemented at scale.
- Engage with regional and global stakeholders to ensure alignment with Mandai Nature projects and to bring the Asia view to the global agenda.
- Commission research and analysis to understand the threats and challenges as well as opportunities for ecosystem conservation and NBS.
- Build research strength via partnerships with research/academic institutions.
- Work closely with the Mandai Parks and local Singapore stakeholders and
- Oversee projects and ensure timely project reporting.
- Support the development and launch of the NGO coalition on Nature Based
- Support efforts on building other eco-system payment options and alternate
- Other relevant duties as assigned.
- Master’s degree in Environmental Science / Management, Forest Management, or equivalent
- At least 15 years of relevant experience in conservation in ecosystem protection at a landscape level including protection and management of forests, wetlands, peatlands, grasslands etc.
- Experience and knowledge of carbon markets especially Nature Based Solutions
- Good understanding of the threats to ecosystems, including engaging with corporate value chains
- Proven track record of delivering projects on the ground
- Strong base in research and analytics, particularly the ability to use research to drive program design and impact on the ground
- Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills, with proven ability to maintain effective internal/external working relationships, develop networks and partnerships
- Demonstrated experience in project management
- Strong team player, good team leader, well-organised and self-starter
- Experience in partnership development and management
- Creative and innovative, testing new ideas and solutions
