
Medical Records Specialist
Job Description
Responsibilities
Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations in all aspects of medical records management.
Manage and process both physical and electronic medical records.
Handle incoming and outgoing medical records requests in a timely manner.
Communicate with physicians and healthcare providers to share patient progress notes and medical information.
Template and organize physician's progress notes for consistency and accuracy.
Review and update physician schedules and follow up on records requests.
Maintain efficient and organized record-keeping systems for patient documentation.
Qualifications and Requirements
Proficient in medical terminology to ensure proper understanding and usage in documentation and communication.
Proficient in MS Office Suite to perform administrative tasks and manage documentation.
Proficient in organizing clinical information in an Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system for accurate and easy access.
Ability to manage and process electronic faxes as they come into the ECW fax server.
Strong understanding of the difference between an Insurance Referral and a provider-to-provider referral.
Effective problem-solving skills to identify and resolve issues in a timely manner.
Versatile and adaptable with the ability to multi-task and complete tasks as required by the manager.
Ability to exhibit objectivity and openness to others views, contributing to a positive work environment.
Ability to meet productivity standards while demonstrating accuracy and thoroughness in work.
