The Validus Global Capital Markets team executes derivatives transactions across FX, Rates, Equity and Commodity markets.

Based in North America, Europe and Asia, the Capital Markets function provides specialist front, middle and back office outsourced services for our client base.


This involves:

  • Executing derivative trades (as agent) on behalf of clients.
  • Communicating and coordinating hedging activity with clients.
  • Ensuring bet execution across a variety of derivatives (FX, Interest Rates, Commodities, Futures)
  • Establishing trading infrastructure (trading lines, ISDA agreements) with investment banks and other counterparties.
  • Managing and developing strong relationships with clients and across our global banking panel.
  • Proactively working with clients and Validus colleagues to optimize hedge portfolios.
  • Designing and presenting hedge solutions to internal and external clients.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Pricing and trade execution of FX and Interest Rate derivatives via our various execution channels.
  • Monitoring of client positions using our bespoke proprietary technology.
  • Monitoring FX and Interest Rate markets to proactively assist our clients with the risk management of their exposures.
  • Communicating market insights to clients and hosting periodic calls.
  • All facets of the trade execution process.
  • Execution of exchange-traded futures.

Requirements

  • 7-10 years of professional training experience in the FX and Interest Rate markets focused on providing hedging support to corporate or institutional clients.
  • Specific experience in Asia Emerging Markets FX and Interest Rates, including knowledge of onshore vs offshore, relevant regulations, market specific liquidity and trading requirements.
  • Advanced proficiency with electronic trading systems [FXall, FXconnect, Bloomberg].
  • Independent trade process management: Receiving client request, sense checking, execution, reporting.
  • Independent client communication and client ownership.
  • Deep knowledge of FX and Interest Rate markets and macro drivers.
  • Knowledge of Alternative Investment Funds.
  • Strong numerical skills with an analytical mindset and great attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal presentation skills and ability to communicate complex ideas effectively.
  • In addition, any of the following would be a plus:
  • Proficiency in written and verbal presentation skills in an Asian language.
  • Track record in business development.
  • Existing network across private capital managers.

Qualifications:

  • Relevant undergraduate degree (e.g. Finance, Economics, Engineering, Math, Statistics).
  • Post-graduate qualifications (e.g. MBA, CFA, Masters in Finance) is a plus.
