Construction Manager, Underground Tunnelling (A1 main Contractor)
We are representing a leading A1 civil main contractor with a strong track record in delivering complex and large-scale infrastructure works across Singapore. Our client continues to build on their solid foundation by taking on challenging civil projects and is currently looking for an experienced Construction Manager to join a major underground tunneling project in the west region of Singapore.
Job Responsibilities
As a Construction Manager, you will be responsible for the planning, coordination, and execution of daily construction operations on-site, specifically for underground tunnel works involving civil, structural, and utility elements. You will play a key role in leading the site team, ensuring the project is delivered safely, on schedule, and in line with required quality standards.
Key responsibilities include:
- Oversee and manage day-to-day construction activities on the tunneling site, including civil, structural, and utility works.
- Coordinate with consultants, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure smooth project progression across multiple disciplines.
- Monitor construction schedules, resource planning, and site productivity.
- Ensure full compliance with project specifications, safety protocols, and regulatory requirements.
- Review technical drawings (including structural and utility layouts) and resolve site issues efficiently and proactively.
- Lead site teams, providing clear direction and maintaining team performance.
- Conduct regular site inspections and meetings, and report progress to senior management.
- Working hours are Monday to Friday, plus only one official Saturday workday per month.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering recognized by the Professional Engineers Board (PEB), Singapore.
- At least 8 years of relevant experience in civil engineering, with a minimum of 3 years in a construction management role.
- Hands-on experience in civil, structural, and utility works is essential, especially in the context of underground tunneling or large-scale infrastructure.
- Strong leadership, coordination, and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage high-pressure situations and make sound site decisions.
