Why exploreAn opportunity to work with key stakeholders across our Commercial organisationA challenging position working in our World Class Shipping DivisionBased in Singapore, a global commercial hub for Rio TintoAbout the roleThis position maintains accountability for the Marine fleet performance strategy development and delivery, inclusive roadmap to efficiency ‘full potential’ and positioning to (i) comply with existing and emerging energy efficiency regulation and (ii) unlock Rio Tinto’s efficiency ambitions (e.g., 40% intensity reduction by 2025 and long-term achieve our company-wide goal of net zero shipping emissions by2050).The incumbent in this position leads a small team of four: (i) fleet performance senior advisor, (ii) fleet performance adviso,r (iii) fleet performance principal advisor and (iv) data analytics and insights advisor, and is accountable for effective resource allocation, activities prioritisation, and team personnel development.Reporting to the GM Marine Operations and Performance, your accountabilities include:Strategy development and execution of the next phase operational efficiency programme (e.g., Installation of Energy-Saving Devices (ESDs) on chartered vessels, VC optimisations, chartering guidance on minimum quality criteria) to size up the value opportunity to maximise efficiency while minimising cost.Management of existing efficiency programme (e.g., effective planning/management/optimisation of voyage performance on OVs, TCs, pre/during/post charter vessel performance assessment and owner engagement, ESD best practice management on OVs).Fleet Performance Management (e.g., KPI development/refinement), for example:Commercial savings from CP speed and consumption optimisation.CII improvement – in terms of percentage and ratings as a target.ESD installations through targeted owner partnerships for chartered vessels (lead discussions with Owners re: efficiency levers for chartered portfolio).Confirm installation techs (overseeing installation sites with Fleet Management) and performance tracking for ESD technologies.Marine decarbonisation target setting (input for company-wide targets).Holistic analytics to assess data and offer value-added solutions to meet savings targets.Understanding of regulation (what’s at play, how we optimise), e.g., EEDI/EEXI/CII/EEOI, and Rio Tinto’s efficiency ambitions and how to deliver and position. Directly working with the Strategy team to be clear on strategic relationships at play to achieve, e.g., green corridor partnerships.Stakeholder collaboration and influence commercial outcomes (e.g., within Marine Ops, strategy, chartering, with S&M, incl. scheduling teams, ports/terminals, RT Digital, externally with shipowners, other industry players - all as applicable).Apply broad discipline knowledge of a variety of marine concepts, practices, and procedures to ensure Rio Tinto Marine's Own and Chartered vessels are managed efficiently to minimise costs and meet future zero shipping targets.Maintenance and development of digital solutions as critical enablers (i.e., owners of fleet performance digital strategy).Manage the coordination and collaboration with project team members, contractors, business units, and functional groups.About youTo be successfully considered for this role, you will have:Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Business, with preference to marine engineering/marine power and propulsion, or experience gained from a work environment.
