Position Context
This role is based in the Campari Group Asia Pacific office in Singapore. R&D Packaging Engineer, APAC is responsible for the design development, validation and packaging production activities for Campari APAC’s product portfolio.
Role & Responsibilities
- Lead and execute packaging activities for NPD / Customization projects.
- Contribute to development briefs, specifically in the preparation of technical content and constraints.
- Define realistic project timelines with key stakeholders, monitor progress and adherence to the timeline through launch.
- Ensure adherence to appropriate product development approach, enabling concept intent to be effectively transferred into mass production and ensure that products meet set requirements and specifications.
- Coordinate design efforts between internal teams and outside vendors to develop optimal packaging solutions.
- Design test protocol and lead qualification activities of the final solution, verifying adherence to targets and confirming functionality is ‘fit for purpose’.
- Lead the definition and selection of appropriate manufacturing processes and assembly operations.
- Evaluate vendor prototypes and provide improvements/suggestions or alternative solutions.
- Ensure Food safety and Compliance of packaging materials used.
- Develop and Maintain accurate Technical Product Specifications for packaging materials and ensure that technical product specs are appropriately documented.
- Contribute to identification of areas for improvement in packaging sustainability, reduction of waste and improvement in cost savings.
- Ensure and assess Sustainability topics in new projects. Drive continuous improvements and saving projects.
- Lead and coordinate Business continuity and Manufacturing footprint projects.
- Undertake cross functional projects/activities as assigned.
- Degree in scientific subjects preferably in Material Science, Industrial Design or similar.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in a similar role within FMCG Manufacturing Environment, preferably Beverages/Spirits.
- Functional knowledge of food contact materials.
- Technical knowledge of packaging materials preferably aluminum cans, glass, cardboard/corrugated packaging.
- Experience handling packaging artwork development preferred.
- Outstanding teamwork ability.
- Openness and willingness to learn and improve.
- Flexible and adaptive, creative in problem solving.
- High attention to detail.
- Structured and organized in approaching tasks and projects
- Ability to work under pressure, to meet deadlines by managing various projects with a diverse range of priorities simultaneously
- Technical capability with proven track record of project management and delivery
- Good understanding of quality tools including RCA, AQL’s, CPK analysis, SPC.
- Understanding 3D modeling and LCA tools.
