Job Duties, Responsibilities, Qualifications, and Requirements

Job Summary :

The IT executive in a precision engineering company wears multiple hats, acting as a bridge between the company's technological needs and its internal operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Hardware and Software Selection & Procurement:
  • Research and Identify: Acquire necessary hardware
  • (servers, workstations, networking equipment) and software licenses to support the operation processes by staying updated on the latest technologies
  • Create PR (Purchase Requisition): By gathering information, ensuring accuracy of information based on user requirements and following internal procedures.
  • System Maintenance and Security
  • Conduct regular maintenance: To ensure smooth operation of the IT infrastructure. With regular maintenance of servers, workstations, and the network, implementing security measures to protect against cyber threats, and performing data backups to ensure disaster recovery
  • User Support
  • Technical support: Address user issues faced with their computers, software, and network connectivity.
  • Policies and Procedures
  • Drafts: Implement IT policies that govern how employees use technology within the company. Covering areas like acceptable use of company computers and internet, data security protocols, and software licensing procedures.
  • User Training
  • Training programs: Execute and educate employees on the proper use of IT systems and security protocols.
  • Vendor Selection and Negotiation
  • Identify and Evaluate: Third-party vendors for IT services like cloud storage, software maintenance, or network security solutions. Negotiate contracts with these vendors to ensure the best possible value for the company.
  • Relationship Management
  • Vibrant Environment: Maintain communication and a positive working relationship with the chosen vendors, ensuring they deliver the promised services effectively. This may involve troubleshooting any issues that arise with the vendor's services.
  • Understanding Business Needs
  • Specific Needs and Challenges: To liaise with internal IT management to understand the specific needs and challenges faced by different departments within the company (engineering, production, finance etc.). This helps tailor the general IT policies to address these departmental needs while maintaining central control.
  • Alignment with Central Guideline
  • Internal IT team: Alignment with parent company IT manager to ensure the proposed policies align with existing central guidelines or best practices.
  • Resource Sharing & Support
  • Additional Resources: Opportunities to leverage resources or support available from the parent company's IT department. Communication helps identify potential areas of collaboration and avoid duplication of efforts.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • ERP Support
  • Assistance role: Opportunity to learn and understand ERP support services for existing processes. Training will be conducted internally by ERP Application Engineer

Education And / Or Experience

  • Education:
  • Minimum ITE/Diploma in Infocomm Security, Cybersecurity or other related fields.
  • Experience:
  • Knowledge in cybersecurity

Language, Mathematical, And/or Reasoning Ability

English and Mandarin
