Job Summary
The Senior Executive / Assistant Manager is responsible for planning, managing, and maintaining the efficient operations of the Scout Shop. This role oversees daily sales activities, supervises staff, and ensures excellent customer service while upholding The Singapore Scout Association image. Key responsibilities include managing inventory, sourcing high-quality products at competitive prices, reviewing supplier quotations, and supporting strategic retail initiatives to drive sales performance and operational excellence.
Duties & Responsibilities
Sales & Customer Experience:
- Drive sales performance by setting targets and implementing strategies to achieve revenue goals
- Deliver outstanding customer service by fostering a customer-first culture
- Handle customer inquiries, complaints, and special requests effectively
- Enhance the in-store shopping experience through merchandising, promotions, and engagement activities
Store Operations & Inventory Management:
- Plan, review, and recommend optimal stocking levels, product mix, and shop layout to maximize customer satisfaction and sales efficiency
- Oversee day-to-day store operations, ensuring adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
- Maintain proper records of all transactions, ensuring timely entry into the system
- Ensure effective cash handling procedures, including reconciliation and proper handover to the Accounts Department
- Monitor and manage inventory levels, conducting regular stock audits and minimizing shrinkage
- Coordinate with suppliers and logistics teams to ensure timely stock availability and source competitive quotes for merchandise
- Arrange and oversee the annual stock take with external auditors
- Prepare and submit monthly sales and operational reports, including variance reports and reconciliations with the Finance Department
- Manage and maintain the Point of Sale (POS) system to ensure accurate transaction processing, inventory tracking, and sales reporting; utilize POS data for operational analysis and to support business decisions
Staff Supervision & Training:
- Manage, supervise, and mentor retail staff to achieve performance goals
- Conduct training sessions to enhance product knowledge and sales techniques
- Develop staff schedules to ensure adequate coverage, especially during peak shopping periods
- Monitor staff performance, providing feedback and professional development opportunities
Marketing & Merchandising:
- Implement visual merchandising standards to enhance store presentation
- Collaborate with the marketing team to execute promotional campaigns and sales events
- Analyze customer trends and feedback to recommend product assortments and promotional strategies
- Plan and execute product promotions to maximize revenue and customer engagement
Financial & Administrative Tasks:
- Assist in budget management and cost control to maximize profitability
- Process sales transactions accurately and oversee cash management duties.
- Provide necessary records, reports, and schedules required by the Accounts Department and management
- Attend to management and audit queries, ensuring compliance with all financial and operational policies
Other Duties:
- Support organizational committees and task groups as required
- Undertake any other projects or roles as directed by the Executive Director
Qualifications & Skills:
- Diploma / Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Retail Management, or a related field preferred
- 3-5 years of experience in a retail (supervisory or managerial role is a plus)
- Experience with POS system management and data analysis preferred
- Strong leadership and people management skills
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving abilities
- Proficiency in retail management software and MS Office
- Passion for the Scouts brand and mission is a plus
