Job Description
Overview
The role holder is responsible for overseeing the teachers at the level and for curriculum, lesson planning, and manpower planning within the Cambridge Curriculum (CLSP/IGCSE).
Responsibilities
- Supports the Principal, Vice Principal, and Academic Supervisors in implementing the campus's policies, procedures, and processes.
- Leads, trains, guides, and supports teachers at the level and oversees their career development in conjunction with the Principal, Vice Principal, and Academic Supervisor; recommends appropriate in-service training.
- Reviews the syllabus set by the Heads of Departments (HoDs) for the level.
- Ensures timely completion of the syllabus for all units, cyclic tests, and semester examinations.
- Conducts reviews of question papers to ensure balance, modernization, and validity.
- Follows up on results analysis and reports findings to the Principal, Vice Principal, and Academic Supervisor.
- Plans teacher timetables and placements according to academic requirements.
- Monitors timetable allotments, substitutions, and workload distribution among teachers.
- Determines future teaching staff requirements in advance for the upcoming semester.
- Reviews teaching content and lesson plans at the start of the curriculum planning process and provides feedback.
- Approves textbook reviews conducted by HoDs and Teachers.
- Consolidates reports on textbooks and lesson plans from HoDs and Teachers and presents the findings to the Academic Supervisors for approval.
- Sets the annual curriculum framework, shares it with the Academic Supervisors for review, and revises it as needed.
- Observes teachers in classrooms and provides constructive feedback for improvement.
- Organizes class demonstrations, teaching methods workshops, and shares teaching aids and resources with the team.
- Monitors student performance and outcomes to evaluate whether learning objectives are being met and recommends changes in teaching methods or content when necessary.
- Maintains a working relationship with the National Head, Academic to stay updated on curriculum changes.
- Coordinates with HoDs to address teachers daily operational concerns.
- Collaborates proactively with Human Resources to enhance competencies within the function through recruitment and development initiatives.
- Assists with the recruitment, selection, orientation, and training of teachers.
Job Requirements
- Master's Degree / B.Ed.
- 58 years of teaching experience.
- Strong leadership skills.
- Experience with Cambridge Curriculum (CLSP/IGCSE).
