Research Engineer II (Electric and Electrical Engineering/Mechanical Engineering)
Established in 2010, the Energy Research Institute @ NTU (ERI@N) is a pan-university research institute that focuses on systems-level research for tropical megacities. It performs translational research that covers the energy value chain from generation to innovative end-use solutions, motivated by industrialisation and deployment. ERI@N has multiple Interdisciplinary Research Programmes which focus on translational Research, Development & Deployment which focus on specific area of the energy value chain, and a number of Living labs and Testbeds which facilitate large scale technology deployment enabling validation and demonstration of real world applications.
Energy Research Institute @ NTU (ERI@N) invites applications for the position of Research Engineer II.
Key Responsibilities:
Participate in lithium-ion battery pack design, prototyping, and testing
Prepare design scheme according to system requirements on electric, thermal, structural performance
Participate in lab set-up and readiness work with focus on electrical and mechanical fields and engineering safety.
Conduct technical supervision for junior team members on prototyping, commissioning and testing
Conduct hands-on work pertaining to electrical and mechanical engineering (e.g., wire harnessing, cabling, circuit trouble shooting, layout design, etc.)
Literature review on equipment specifications and safety standards, prepare technical requirement documents and standard operating procedure
Prepare 2D and 3D mechanical drawings as well as animation
Prepare design progress document and final report
Job Requirements:
Candidate that possesses a diploma or degree in electric and electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, or similar is preferable
At least 15 years of relevant experiences in research engineering / technical hands-on experience in energy storage system development, electrical and mechanical engineering testing, high-voltage power system and grid
At least 5 years of experience in project management and technical supervision
Familiarity with manufacturing progress, engineering tools, CAD/CAE software, and international standards for prototyping and testing
Familiar with battery management system development and testing
Competent in soft skills / general personality traits e.g. information visualization, interaction design
Ability to work independently, develop solutions under strict timelines, meticulous and eye for details
Have ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Possesses international experience, with a strong network of contacts in the region.
Have good time management skills
Have good communication skills and bilingual capability in Chinese and English - essential for data analysis and communication with stakeholders
Self-motivated and takes initiative.
