Responsibilities:
- Drive both new business acquisition and renewal retention while ensuring underwriting profitability and safeguarding company assets. Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with a network of producers to effectively market the company’s products and services.
- Select risks profitably by evaluating and negotiating pricing, terms, and conditions. Leverage innovative underwriting strategies to achieve optimal net retentions that balance client needs with company objectives.
- Collaborate with account teams to deliver high-quality, responsive service that enhances broker and client relationships.
- Partner with Account Engineers to assess new and renewal business opportunities, ensuring accurate risk identification, analysis, and evaluation to support the development of a profitable and sustainable portfolio.
- Maintain regular communication with brokers and reinsurers, serving as the key liaison for insurance-related matters.
- Achieve established targets for profitability, new business production, and policy retention as agreed upon with the District Manager.
- Actively engage with the market by establishing a broad network of contacts and conducting an average of 10 in-person meetings per month to maintain visibility and strengthen relationships.
- Travel is required for business development, training, and market visits, including potential international travel. New risks must be carefully pre-qualified based on current acceptability and future growth potential, with thorough analysis of submissions, pricing expectations, terms, financials, valuations, and loss history.
- Adhere to company underwriting guidelines and procedures to protect assets. This includes determining exposure, managing net capacity, cross-liability checks, catastrophe retention management, negotiating/purchasing reinsurance, and setting commissions in alignment with company interests.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Minimum of 5 years of underwriting experience with a broker or insurance company, focusing on commercial property accounts across diverse industries and scales
- Solid knowledge of commercial property insurance, including risk evaluation, coverage forms, financial review, and business systems
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English
- Proficient in collaboration, analytical thinking, decision-making, time management, negotiation, presentation, problem-solving, and sales
