The Assistant Teacher will support the Main Teacher in the effective delivery of enrichment programs. This role involves assisting with lesson delivery, providing support for classroom management, and contributing to the assessment of student work through the marking of curriculum materials. Key Responsibilities:
Lesson Support:
- Assist the Main Teacher in the preparation of teaching materials, resources, and the classroom environment before and after lessons.
- Support the Main Teacher during lesson delivery by providing individual or small group assistance to students who require additional help or reinforcement.
- Help to manage student activities and ensure their engagement during lessons.
- Circulate in the classroom to monitor student progress and provide guidance as directed by the Main Teacher.
- Assist with the implementation of activities and instructions as outlined by the Main Teacher.
Classroom Management Support:
- Assist the Main Teacher in maintaining a positive and orderly classroom environment.
- Help to implement classroom rules and procedures.
- Support the Main Teacher in addressing minor behavioural issues and ensuring student focus.
- Assist with the organisation of learning materials and student work.
- Help to ensure the safety and well-being of students during class time.
- Assist in dismissing students after class.
Marking and Assessment Support:
- Assist the Main Teacher in the marking of student worksheets, assignments, and other curriculum materials according to provided guidelines and rubrics.
- Provide constructive feedback on student work as directed by the Main Teacher.
- Help to record student scores and progress under the supervision of the Main Teacher.
- Assist in the preparation of assessment materials as needed.
Administrative and Logistical Support:
- Assist with the distribution and collection of learning materials.
- Help with photocopying, organising, and filing of teaching resources and student work.
- Assist with the setup and tidying of the classroom.
- Provide other administrative support as required by the Main Teacher or Centre Management.
Communication and Collaboration:
- Communicate effectively with the Main Teacher regarding student progress, challenges, and observations.
- Participate in team meetings and share relevant information.
- Interact positively and professionally with students.
Professional Development:
- Participate in relevant training sessions and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge in supporting teaching and learning.
- Learn and implement best practices in assisting with lesson delivery, classroom management, and marking.
Job Types: Part-time, Fresh graduate
Pay: $11.00 per hour
Expected hours: 4 – 28 per week
