Impact & Contribution:

As a Software Engineer (Solutions) at Commonwealth Bank, you will define and facilitate delivery of technology solutions against the group’s architecture strategy, including design and uplift of our system architectures. We strive for simple, intuitive, scalable and robust solutions, delivering the best experience for our customers and staff. Your role will prove critical in helping our business stakeholders and delivery teams understand how to execute their portfolio of work in alignment with the group strategy.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Design and architect scalable, reliable, and maintainable systems and robust applications using Node.js and TypeScript.
  • Develop and maintain efficient RESTful APIs and services, ensuring clean, maintainable, and well-documented code.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align technical goals with business objectives and contribute to the company's technical strategy.
  • Solve technical problems with innovative solutions, optimizing applications for performance and scalability.
  • Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve application issues promptly.
  • Stay updated with advancements in Node.js, TypeScript, and related technologies, advocating for best practices in software development.
  • Actively participate in agile development processes and contribute to design and architectural decisions to enhance product functionality and user experience.
  • Continually learning modern technology best practices and bring them back to the group. Go above and beyond in improving quality and performance in the delivery of efficient, reliable and maintainable applications and solutions.
  • Adhere to the Code of Conduct. The Code of Conduct sets the standards of behavior, actions and decisions we expect from our people.

Essential Skills:

  • 4-7 years of industry experience building applications with TypeScript, Node.js, Java, and J2EE.
  • Strong hands-on experience with TypeScript, Node.js, Java, and Spring Boot.
  • Proficient in frameworks such as Express.js, NestJS, and Fastify.
  • In-depth knowledge of RESTful APIs and GraphQL.
  • Practical experience with message brokers like Kafka, RabbitMQ, and AWS SQS.
  • Expertise in Docker and Kubernetes for containerization and orchestration.
  • Experience with AWS services, including Lambda, ECS, DynamoDB, S3, API Gateway, and IAM, or equivalent cloud platforms.
  • Good understanding of Microservices Architecture.
  • Strong understanding of asynchronous programming, event-driven architecture, and caching strategies.
  • Familiar with monitoring and tracing tools such as OpenTelemetry, Splunk, Prometheus, and Grafana.
  • Knowledge of security best practices, including authentication and authorization with OAuth.
  • Excellent communication skills, capable of conveying technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong problem-solving skills for tackling complex technical challenges.
  • Good understanding on DevOps practices.
  • Soft skills: Excellent communication skills. Working experience with Agile methodologies.

Education Qualification:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering in Computer Science/Information Technology.
