We are looking for a Sensory Panel Leader to manages sensory activities within given product categories, providing sensory expertise and knowledge to support product and technology development projects and contribute to success in innovation/renovation activities.
A day in the life
Provide sensory support and expertise to innovation/renovation projects:
- Play an active part in cross-functional project teams and define Sensory Evaluation methodologies to apply.
- Involved in tasting, including technical tasting within projects.
- Plan, organize, and run panel sessions and sensory tests.
- Analyze/interpret and report results with recommendations (and present results if required).
- Interact closely with Category Sensory Specialist to integrate sensory and consumer data within projects, to ensure consumer preference.
Coach and assign activities to the panel leader and/or technician:
- Conduct training and coach Sensory Technicians.
- Assign work to the Sensory Technician for the preparation of panel sessions.
Manage sensory panels:
- Screen, train and monitor performance of internal and external panels.
Network and provide technical assistance:
- Network/communicate within R&D locations on sensory methodology, to contribute to knowledge transfer and to keep up with new development in the field.
- Continuously seeks for improving Sensory Evaluation methods.
- Support Category Sensory Specialist in providing sensory training to markets and business units on the product category for the implementation or improvement of sensory panels (sensory training toolkit on the product category).
- Issue and update relevant sensory evaluation MI on the product category.
What will make you successful
Academic background in food science / food technology (scientific / technical and statistical knowledge).- Ideally min. 2-3 years of experience in sensory evaluation, preferably in FMCG from R&D side. A broader experience in operations or business side is a plus.
- Candidates with extensive experience may be considered for a Sensory Group Lead position.
