Environmental Molecular Biologist
In this role, you will:
- Design and execute laboratory and field-based experiments to understand microbial communities from the environment
- Optimise workflows leading to the generation of sequencing data and bioinformatics analysis
- Analyse experimental data and communicate findings to stakeholders though reports and presentations
Requirements
- Degree Degree / Masters / PhD in Life Sciences / Molecular Biology / Molecular Biotechnology / Microbiology
- Proficient in nucleic acid extraction, purification, amplification, analysis and optimisation of protocols for challenging matrices
- Proficient user / operator of commonly used DNA sequencing techniques
- Willing to work in BSL3
- Willing to conduct outdoor field experiments
- Experience with common bioinformatics tools for analysing genomic and metagenomic datasets
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Motivated with keen interest in research, able to keep up-to-date with the latest developments in environmental microbial detection
