The Country Medical Director (CMD) is accountable for medical governance and all medical activities in the country. The CMD ensures alignment with the General Manager, partners with key cross-functional partners, and leads the development of the Country Medical Team. The role involves providing input into the development, registration, and launch of new medicines and vaccines, ensuring effective scientific communication, and fostering continuous talent development within the Medical Department.

Key Responsibilities

This role will provide YOU the opportunity to lead key activities as follows:

  • Medical Leadership and Governance

    • Lead and manage all medical functions and activities.

    • Chair the Medical Governance Committee and participate in local crisis management.

    • Ensure medical governance oversight and risk management for clinical studies.

    • Approve promotional materials and product labeling.

    • Ensure appropriate management and deployment of local medical resources and capabilities.

  • Medical Strategy and Scientific Engagement

    • Provide strategic medical and scientific input to therapy area businesses and ensure successful creation & execution of Medical Plans.

    • Lead scientific engagement activities, including advisory boards and medical education programs.

    • Support market access, pricing, and reimbursement strategies.

    • Champion digital transformation in medical strategies and communication.

  • External Engagement and Reputation Management

    • Drive the implementation of scientific engagement activities.

    • Ensure medical governance oversight for clinical studies.

    • Engage with external experts, academia, government officials, and other stakeholders.

  • Medical Information and Support

    • Implement and execute medical information services.

    • Maintain effective local pharmacovigilance systems and respond to medical information requests.

Basic Qualifications:

We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:

  • 10+ years of experience in the pharma industry across medical affairs, governance, clinical operations, and PV roles.

  • Strong business acumen, strategic thinking, communication, and leadership skills.

  • Exposure to multiple therapy areas and specialties.

  • Master’s degree or PhD in medical-related fields; post-graduate management degree is optional.

  • Knowledge of pharma industry medical governance framework.

  • Leadership of teams and building high performing cultures.

Preferred Qualifications:

If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus:

  • Above country medical experience in roles at the Region or Global level.

  • Medical Doctor
