Principal Engineer (Inspectorate Department)
NEA’s Pollution Control 1 Division (PCD1) administers the Environmental Protection and Management Act (EPMA) and its Regulations to manage and control air, water and noise pollution, hazardous substances, and toxic industrial waste at industrial and trade premises.
A key role of the Inspectorate Department (ID) within PCD1 is to regulate and control pollution from the industrial and trade premises across Singapore. We are seeking suitable candidate(s) who can demonstrate strong leadership abilities, critical thinking and problem-solving skills, coupled with robust technical knowledge in pollution control, to oversee the operations in our division.
[What you will be working on]
You will be responsible for the following:
Lead a team to plan and conduct industrial inspections, resolve feedback, perform investigations, and carry out enforcement actions related to air, water and noise pollution
Lead a team to investigate complex environmental pollution cases.
Lead a team to evaluate the adequacy of pollution control requirements at industrial plants, to facilitate the issuance of Written Permissions
Lead a team to provide technical assessments and evaluate environmental requirements for new industrial and trade premises
Collaborate with other departments within NEA, other agencies, as well as industry stakeholders to review and implement pollution control measures and frameworks
Oversee the review of work processes and practices to enhance effectiveness and productivity of the department
Oversee the preparation of reports and presentations to senior management on environment-related issues
Contribute to and support other NEA projects (e.g. management of workplace safety, representation on various teams/committees, etc.)
[What we are looking for]
Degree in Chemical, Environmental or Mechanical Engineering
At least 7 years of total working experience in environment-related industries, with experience in industrial pollution control, industrial operations and management, environmental mitigation, or similar fields preferred
Proven leadership capabilities with demonstrated ability to lead teams effectively
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
Mature, independent and resourceful
Organised and able to multi-task
Good writing, communication and interpersonal skills
Proficient in Microsoft Office
