Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced Purchasing Manager to lead and manage all procurement activities to support our production and business operations. The ideal candidate will be strategic, detail-oriented, and capable of overseeing the entire purchasing process—from planning and sourcing to delivery and quality control. This role will also be responsible for supplier relationship management, cost optimization, and leading a small team
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and manage purchasing strategies to support production schedules and business needs.
- Lead and oversee procurement planning, monitoring, and execution of material and product requirements.
- Collaborate closely with R&D for new product development and second source qualification.
- Identify, evaluate, and select suppliers based on quality, cost, reliability, and delivery speed.
- Lead price negotiations, cost reduction initiatives, and supplier performance improvements.
- Manage day-to-day procurement operations, including RFQs, lead time management, and supplier issue resolution.
- Review and evaluate supplier quotations; perform price comparisons and analysis for cost efficiency.
- Negotiate and establish favorable terms and conditions, including payment and credit terms with suppliers.
- Oversee the preparation, approval, and issuance of Purchase Orders (POs).
- Ensure the timely and accurate delivery of all purchases; resolve delays or discrepancies as needed.
- Coordinate appropriate shipment modes and manage import documentation and schedules.
- Monitor and follow up on delivery timelines and due shipments.
- Ensure timely customs clearance and import processing of raw materials.
- Address and resolve any quality issues related to raw material supply in coordination with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
- Manage credit note issuance for defective or substandard goods.
- Maintain and nurture supplier relationships to ensure long-term collaboration and performance.
- Supervise the generation and maintenance of SKU, BOM, inventory records, transfer notes, and all relevant procurement documentation and reports.
- Conduct regular stock checks and ensure inventory accuracy and traceability.
- Provide procurement insights and reports to senior management for strategic decision-making.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related field.
- Proven experience in purchasing or procurement, with at least 2–3 years in a managerial or supervisory role.
- Able to converse in English and Mandarin in order to liaise with Mandarin speaking suppliers and associates.
- Proficient in inventory systems and purchasing software/tools.
- Ability to multitask, work under pressure, and meet tight deadlines.
- Knowledge of import procedures and documentation is an advantage.
