The School of Physical and Mathematical Sciences (SPMS) at NTU Singapore hosts research and education activities in two divisions: Division of Mathematical Sciences (MAS) and Division of Physics and Applied Physics (PAP). MAS covers diverse topics ranging from pure mathematics to the applications of mathematics in cryptography, computing, business, and finance. PAP covers many areas of fundamental and applied physics, including quantum information, condensed matter physics, biophysics, and photonics. Over the years, SPMS has attracted talented individuals from around the world and Singapore to join as scientific leaders and researchers.

Join the laboratory of Wang Li-Lian at SPMS. We are seeking a Research Fellow in the fields of Scientific Computing for interdisciplinary applications, to contribute to a project focused on developing and analyzing efficient computational methods for PDEs in complex geometries arisen from emerging applications. The hire is in line with a University wide initiative to advance the application of Computational Science in interdisciplinary research.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop efficient computation methods for PDEs in complex geometries

  • Conduct deep mathematical analysis of the proposed methods

  • Apply the methods for PDEs from emerging applications

  • Draft research papers for publication

  • Assist the supervision of final year undergraduate student’s projects

Job Requirements:

  • PhD degree in related fields

  • Strong knowledge of advanced in computation and analysis

  • Strong programming skills in MATLAB

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Positive and collaborative working attitude

  • Excellent problem-solving skills

  • Knowledge of PDE and computational methods

  • 2+ years of research experiences in Applied and Computational Mathematics

  • Evidence of a good publication record from PhD works
