Our esteemed client, an established MNC, is searching for a Chemical Engineer (Material Planning):

Job Responsibilities

  • Supervise and oversee operations related to repacking, containment, and waste management, ensuring smooth workflow and compliance with safety standards.
  • Monitor the safe process flow and manage backlog levels for waste processing.
  • Ensure all employees receive proper training as per the On-the-Job Training (OJT) program and adhere to safe work procedures (SWPs) and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Coordinate effectively with internal stakeholders, including operations, sales, and customer service teams, to maintain high service standards.
  • Monitor and manage the budget for containment materials, while encouraging cost-saving initiatives such as recycling used containment materials.
  • Conduct daily inspections of operational processes, ensuring compliance with 5S methodology, Total Productive Maintenance (TPM), workplace safety, and machinery maintenance.
  • Lead daily safety toolbox meetings, conduct periodic Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) inspections, and ensure staff have adequate safety gear.
  • Regularly review and improve existing procedures and workflows to enhance cost efficiency and productivity.
  • Implement continuous improvement plans to maintain an efficient and optimized operational model.
  • Work closely with lab chemists to develop new treatment methods and procedures for handling new or unknown waste materials, while keeping management updated on operational costs.
  • Ensure compliance with Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) regulations through continual maintenance and improvement of ISO 45001 standards, while maintaining good site housekeeping.
  • Prepare and analyze daily and monthly operational reports (e.g., cost, productivity, quality, non-conformance), track corrective actions, and ensure follow-up with relevant staff.
  • Assist in preparing the annual operational and maintenance budget, ensuring expenditures remain within the approved limits.
  • Collaborate with operations and engineering teams to implement a preventive maintenance schedule for machinery and equipment.
  • Conduct regular briefings and training sessions on safe handling of waste materials, Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS), PPE requirements, and risk assessments.
  • Lead and activate the emergency response team in case of spills or fire incidents, ensuring prompt and effective response.
  • Work closely with the EHS department to maintain emergency response preparedness, conduct training, and execute periodic drill exercises.
  • Undertake additional duties as assigned by management.
  • Serve as an ISO committee member, contributing to the development and implementation of operational documentation, including SOPs, Risk Assessments (RA), Management of Change (MOC) procedures, and Safe Work Procedures (SWP).
  • Act as an internal auditor for departmental compliance audits.

Job Requirements:

  • Degree in Chemical Engineering or Chemistry or a related field.
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in a similar industry or operational role.
  • Strong knowledge of workplace safety regulations, waste management procedures, and environmental compliance.
  • Ability to lead and train teams while ensuring operational efficiency and adherence to safety protocols.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and reporting tools for tracking operational metrics.

Additional Information:

  • Salary: Up to SGD 3,800 +AWS +VB (1 Month) + Joining Bonus + Quarterly Incentive
  • Working Location: Tuas Crescent
  • Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm
