Research Assistant (Robotics / Design)
We are seeking a highly motivated research assistant candidate with expertise in mechanical design, 3D printing of both soft and rigid materials, simulation/modeling, and control logic for innovative robotic system. The candidate will contribute to the development of advanced healthcare solutions, focusing on cutting-edge medical devices. This position is based at RRC, NTU, and requires travel to 1 CREATE Way, CREATE Tower, Singapore.
Responsibilities:
Enhance and refine the mechanical design of innovative robotic systems, ensuring durability and optimal functionality.
Explore advanced healthcare solutions, focusing on cutting-edge medical devices.
Utilize 3D modeling software such as SolidWorks and FEA simulation tools like ANSYS.
Apply rapid prototyping techniques for robotic components using 3D printers (Bambu, Prusa).
Assemble and systematically maintain the robotic system.
Develop and implement control algorithms/logics for robotic operation.
Optimize system performance by fine-tuning operational parameters.
Assist RF in preparing project deliveries and milestones.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree or above in STEM, preferably in Mechanical or Mechatronics Engineering.
Proven experience/track record in mechanical and system design; working experience in soft robotics is a plus.
Proficiency in 3D modeling software such as SolidWorks and FEA simulation tools like ANSYS.
Hands-on experience with 3D printers (Bambu, Prusa).
Understanding of control algorithms/logics for robotic systems and basic programming languages such as Python and MATLAB.
Familiarity with common actuators and sensors, with hands-on experience.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Excellent time management and organizational abilities.
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
