As a Process Engineer in the DataCom and Specialty Solutions Division, the primary purpose of this role is to focus on quality, yield, and productivity improvements. You will be responsible for the smooth introduction of new products to manufacturing, resolving issues that affect the production flow, and driving machine and process improvements. Additionally, you will work on enhancing Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) and Production Overall Equipment Effectiveness (POEE), supported by data analytics and strong knowledge of soldering processes.

Our Team

You will be part of the DataCom and Specialty Solutions Division, working closely with various departments, including design, manufacturing, and quality teams. Your role will involve collaboration with fabrication and machine vendors/suppliers to ensure efficient production processes. You will also supervise a team consisting of Engineers, Assistant Supervisors, Assistant Engineers, Specialists, and Technicians.

What You Will Do

  • Develop, optimize, and maintain soldering processes to improve production yield and efficiency.
  • Conduct root cause analysis and corrective actions to address soldering defects such as cold solder joints, bridging, and voiding.
  • Ensure compliance with IPC and industry standards for high-quality soldering operations.
  • Collaborate with design and manufacturing teams to refine soldering techniques for new product introductions (NPI).
  • Train and mentor operators and technicians on best soldering practices and equipment handling.
  • Implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity and reduce waste.
  • Supported process improvements and troubleshooting in SMT and through-hole soldering.
  • Assisted in the evaluation and selection of fluxes, solder pastes, and reflow profiles.
  • Developed work instructions and standard operating procedures (SOPs) for soldering processes.
  • Worked closely with the quality team to ensure defect-free soldering results.
  • Supervise Assistant Engineer or Specialist and develops continuous improvement of quality system to achieve agreed goal set.
  • Directly accountable for all quality, process related problems at assembly area for the products under his responsibility, champion or work with respective department representative to address the issue within given target deadline.
  • Production support to meet production planned by PIC, for both in-house and vendor (maybe oversea) quality/process problems.
  • Involves, form task force or small group activities such as TOPS and QIS team
  • Provide proper storage, control and maintenance of documents within the department to ensure security and efficient retrieval of documents as well as conformance to stipulated regulations, Such controls should include of maintaining a master listing for all controlled documents, maintaining a record of the distribution and retrieval histories of documents, proper disposal of obsolete documents and maintaining a record for controlled documents issued by centralized document control.
  • Proper documentation control of process capability, studies, process FMEA, SOP, Process Specification, OJT Task Analysis, training's record and production records. With reference to TS16949 requirement.
  • To represent the department in customer, 3rd party or internal audits that are related to documents and records control processes
  • Keep track of all project deadline and budgetary expenditure.
  • New products - responsible for working with Automation, Product Design Engineer, QA and components Engineer, ensuring the release for manufacturing. Full Qualification must be done.
  • Embarks on productivity, quality, cost reduction program, machine and process improvement, as and when needed.
  • Duplicates existing machines/fixtures if there is requirement for capacity expansion.
  • Qualification of all the tooling release to manufacturing.
  • Responsible for equipment transfer from other entities, or transfer to other entities in term of machine set up and smooth running of production with full qualification.
  • Coordinate with machine vendors for new machines in which involve robotics, control, software or vision programming.
  • Work closely with all operations to improve quality level.
  • To comply to PBM Guiding Principles for the job carry out under his responsibility.
  • To use data and translate them to information to improve processes (data analytics).
  • Other duties as assigned by Management

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

  • Degree or Diploma in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Production Engineering, along with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Proficient in Soldering Process Development & Optimization, SMT, Wave, & Selective Soldering Techniques.
  • Knowledgeable in IPC Standards & Quality Control (IPC-A-610, J-STD-001).
  • Skilled in Failure Analysis & Root Cause Investigation.
  • Demonstrated expertise in Process Validation & Documentation, Lean Manufacturing & Continuous Improvement, and Training & Mentoring Production Teams.
  • Strong process analytical skills with a focus on process yield improvement and COPQ (Cost of Poor Quality) reduction.
  • Experienced in Equipment Maintenance & Troubleshooting.

What Will Put You Ahead

  • Familiarity with Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Experience with robotics, control, software, or vision programming.
  • A strong background in process improvement.
  • Demonstrated capability in Lean Manufacturing & Continuous Improvement.
  • Ability to train and mentor production teams effectively.
