thrive is the young audience initiative of The Business Times (BT), South-east Asia’s leading business publication based in Singapore, the region’s financial hub.

As a Young Audience Journalist, you will join the front-lines of BT’s new initiative to reach Gen Zs and young millennials aged 18-28. Reporting to the Young Audience Editor, you will help contextualise business and financial topics that matter to young Singaporeans by writing about work, life and money in our weekly e-newsletter as well as on our social media platforms.

Key responsibilities:

  • Writing for our weekly e-newsletter on issues pertaining to career, money and life
  • Pitching and producing content for our social media posts (these include explainers, trend stories, profile pieces, opinion pieces, analyses and more)
  • Scripting and hosting short-form reels on social media
  • Distilling business and personal finance concepts and language into content that is easily understood
  • Proposing creative and fresh content ideas, in tune with Gen Z trends, concerns and interests (for example, coming up with memes)

Requirements:

  • A bachelor’s degree or equivalent credentials in media or a related field
  • Strong editorial judgement to craft stories that resonate with Gen Zs
  • Have at least two years of experience writing news or related content (Experience writing on personal finance a bonus)
  • Familiar with writing for social media platforms (especially Instagram and TikTok) and what’s trending
  • Comfortable in front of the camera
  • Interest in current affairs, personal finance, politics and careers
  • Ability to follow strict deadlines and fact-check information
  • Ability to learn fast and work with a team
  • Enthusiasm and resourcefulness key traits that are valued
